Alright, I finally watched this movie and I thought it was absolutely awesome. Not only that, but it seemed like nothing really happened in this movie, but it was still awesome. By that I mean, it was almost all story but it was so good it kept the viewer attached and excited...anywho

The only part I didn't like was the cinema where the woman (Sousana or w/e) "showed" herself and let the Germans know they were gonna die. That whole scene felt pushed (with the whole Hitler getting his ass pelted over and over by bullets).

I'm not trying to convert anyone to my opinion about the movie, I just wanna know if anyone else feels the same or am I missing a huge part to that whole scene.

Thanks in advance!

Yeh, but a hot chick got more screen time by having that part. So I don't mind.

Is that the girl in your sig? But yea, she is hot and I liked her on the screen. It was pretty saddening when she's on the screen with (I forgot his name) "The Jew Hunter" and the second he left all her emotions came out. That was terrific.

That scene where the screen burns up is integral to rounding out QT's idea of a "director as God". Its basically a reflection of himself and this entire movie. As the "God" over this film he can direct us into anything that he wants. "Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied France" - its a fairytale. He allows us to see our expectations and then subverts them. Just like the Nazis in the film everything that they expected to see was turned upside down by a filmmaker.

I thought the cinema scene was very well done. She wanted to let the Germans know that a reversal of fortunes had occured. They had been killing Jews, now a Jew is going to kill them. As for the Hittler bit, imagine if you were jewish, and Hittler was laying in front of you. I'm sure you would want to commit unspeakable things to him.

I'm pretty drunk right now so maybe that's why I liked it. But the whole movie, although it was all dialogue, kept me interested more than most movies.

Not doubting that at all, but I'm not Jewish. So maybe that part wasn't meant for people like me. I'm not condemning the movie at all for that part, but it just felt pushed onto the movie seeing as how we have no idea how he died (unless I'm mistaken).

It just felt like he was trying to go over the top, which I think should never be felt by the audience.

I want to start by saying I really enjoyed it. But, the more I think about it - and having watched it a second time, I've started to think it's typical Tarantino. He tries to show how intelligent he is through convoluted dialogue. I dunno. Still thoroughly enjoyed it, just had difficulty watching it again.

Yeah but it really sounded like the first guy was expecting an action movie or something. Its a really clever film. So much smarter than that lousy trailer they released for it.

I can agree with that. It's the internet so it's hard to get peoples' tones on certain subjects. Anywho, they really set the movie up for theaters differently than what it was...if that makes sense. The previews made it seem like it was a Brad Pitt move, but he was in it for what....25% of the time? anyways...I want to stress that I loved the movie and so did my wife, but the cinema scene was the one thing we questioned...

It absolutely did since I was expecting an action film too. But it was way more than that.

It's rare that I can say a film kept me interested in more ways than the "action".

With this film, more than recent QT films, I think he showed us his intelligence by the conversations and characters in the film itself.

I just watched it tonight as well, and I thought it was boring as hell. I mean, in true Tarantino fashion the acting is pretty good and there are some neat little character moments in the copious amounts of inane dialogue he makes them spew. It's just that so much of the movie is talking heads that any urge I might have to rewatch it at some point is washed away when I realize I have to sit through long scenes full of absolutely nothing but actors chewing gently on scenery.

thats not true, id say he's at least in 1/3 - 1/2 of the movie. the movie is split between the bastards ( brad pitts american jew crew of killers) and shoshana who is a french jew who escaped the nazi's, now has a theater, nazi's are going to see a movie in it, and she plots to blow the place up and kill em all. those are the two halfs, their stories meet at the end, but they never do. so brat pitt is about give or take 1/2 of the movie. he is amazing in it, but the jew hunter is even better. that is saying a lot, because i'm definately not a " fan " of his.

didnt see any babble at all. QT's technique for dialogue , that is very much shown here is that he makes characters talk until someone chokes or gives themselves away, as seen in the opening scene and the bar scene, but this is in most of his movies. he has so many reoccuring themes, thers a site that has like 50 things. like he always has an acoustic song. there is always a scene where the camera follows a character for an extended amount of time. anyways. other than those two scenes, i can see if you thought shoshana's parts were dragged out at parts, but the bastards parts were all exciting. overall i felt the dialogue was exciting all throughout. and very well written and delivered.

It doesn't matter what they're talking about - although it was exceptionally written - its the fact usually two conflicting characters are together talking, raising the tension as you're waiting and expecting for it to erupt and explode. Its called dramatic irony. IB does it better than almost all of QT's films.

Oh, I don't mind a good drama, but the plot in Inglorious Basterds is basic and the dialogue is meaningless. Everyone babbles incessantly about nothing.

It doesn't matter what they're talking about - although it was exceptionally written - its the fact usually two conflicting characters are together talking, raising the tension as you're waiting and expecting for it to erupt and explode. Its called dramatic irony. IB does it better than almost all of QT's films.

IMO the best BEST BEST scene QT has ever done, is when mr white ( forgot what color, but the crazy guy) , in reservoire dogs, is left alone with the cop they captured, he talks to em, tension is so high, he turns on the radio ( QT knows that a song can make things so tense and frustrating) , tunes it and is so happy, walks to the car, camera follows him.. gets the gasoline.. pours it over the guy, continues to cut em up and stuff, then BAM the guy lying on the ground for half the movie shoots him. no one would have expected that. QT is the best director when it comes to causing tension.

It was a pretty long movie with some epic moments but throughout the movie I thought "what time is it" and at the end I thought "thats it?". I loved it but not as much as Pulp Fiction. Both had excellent endings.

Really the only complaint I have about this movie is the story is kind of weak. It seems like Tarantino was thinking more about making a movie with fun scenes than a movie with a great story.

Just like the Nazis in the film everything that they expected to see was turned upside down by a filmmaker. biggest_loser

ahh. thats an interesting take on it.

anyway, i thought the movie was terrific, tarantinos best by a massively huge mile, and one of the best films i've ever seen. its a real masterpiece, and should at least be nominated for best picture. in my top 5 movies defo.

It was a great film. Some really special acting in it. It certainly isn't for young children.

Best movie i watched in a long time...

The ending was just pure win ! :D
All the chaos, fire, shooting, dying, collapsing, then the whole place just exploded... haha it was just so over the top like the rest of the movie.

And i gotta hand it to Brad and Waltz, they owned this flick...
-"your the jew hunter...."
-"thats aaa bingoooo!... is that how you say it? thats a bingo?"
Pitts face after that one was priceless

I loved the movie, it was just well made with tension, and I have to agree he used his music really well with the music even though I sometimes thought the music choice was a little random

I loved the movie but didn't think it was Quentin's best movie ever made. Pulp Fiction was the best

...seeing as how we have no idea how he died (unless I'm mistaken).

Chutebox

He committed suicide in the 'Fuhrerbunker' along with his newlywed wife, Eva Braun. They both swallowed poison and shot themselves.

I'll never forget the Italian speaking scene. Simply marvellous.

Great movie overall, some good acting in it too; and yes there really is s special rung in hell reserved for men who waste good Skotch.
