Has anyone seen this movie? I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty scary for the most part (granted I don't watch that many horror films), the directing was great, and the story was pretty interesting. What did you guys think of it?

I really did like this movie, as a hardcore horror fan. The first hour is especially scary.

Seriously. That weird, disfigured kid dancing in the kitchen and all the other creepy and unexplained occurences.
scariest movie i've ever seen, didn't like the ending though, seems like horror movies are always ending like that.. but great movie, if your into horror movies go check it out. if your brave watch it in the dark
I really loved Insidious. It had a lot of good scares and the characters weren't that bad. I also thoroughly appreciated the soundtrack; reminded me of Evil Dead. :)
Although, the antagonist was... somewhat strange?
"Gee I wonder who this bad guy i- WELL HELLO DARTH MAUL'S LONG-LOST BROTHER."
Also, I liked the ending. I like to see movies that stray from a happy ending, when done right.
I actually liekd the ending, as it wasn't what I expected at all. I can see why some people didn't like it though. Darth Maul's role was pretty funny too, especially the first time you see him.
Well I guess I'll have to be that guy: I hated it. I didn't think the parents were believable, and the ending was just another cliché (the old woman was pretty darn creepy though). I did like the look of the demon in "shadow mode" though, reminds me of something I thought I saw when I was little

Yeah, I thought Patrick Wilson's acting was a bit "iffy" at parts.

On the demon, he looked really creey and disturbing, but the drawing the guy in the glasses did made him look ten times more badass.cool scary movie, probably the best recently actually(thats sad)it had a neat idea some good scares.acting was meh but what can you expect. darth maul was a little weird looking not scary at all. the old lady though. she was haunting my dreams.
I've heard good things about this movie, but I unsure of whether to get it or not because most horror movies I watch suck.PernicioEnigmagive it a watch. its actually pretty scary watching it the first time knowing nothing about it. it'll have you thinking at night..... better than anything scary that has come out the last 5 years.

Am I the only one who thinks it was a Poltergeist rip-off? -Tish-
No, you are not. The two other people I watched it with thought the same thing. However, from what I remember, wasn't the other "world" in the Poltergeist never explored? I thought all they did was tie a rope around the mother and she dove in and grabbed the daughter.
It was okay; didn't really scare me. It may have been overhyped for me though.
Edit: I'm sorry, typos! D:

Yeah but the concepts of both movies were pretty similar. The main thing I remember from Poltergeist was the tree coming through the window and eating that kid (or at least trying to). 0_oAm I the only one who thinks it was a Poltergeist rip-off? -Tish-
I wouldn't really know. I walked out of Poltergeist in the middle... :?

I felt the same way...it kind of humanized the demon, and the movie wasn't scary from that point on
My honest opinion? Not scary whatsoever. Creepy maybe every now and then, but it's not scary. Then again, I don't really get scared.
Another movie which I found overhyped was Paranormal Activity. Did Americans really find that scary? It was kind of funny to be honest, I lauged quite a few times throughout the whole movie...

I thought Paranormal Activity was horrible and also laughed at a couple parts as well. The funny thing is that the guy who was responsible for Paranormal Activity was an executive producer for Insidious.

Insidious was more depressing and sinister than it was scary.
I watched it the other night wearing headphones and it definitely creeped me out.
This scene especially...
Just saw that pic and I was afraid to look behind me....I still amDidn't realize demons wear earings. Gotta keep it stylin'. I found it overall hilarious, especially the gas mask scene and the ghost near the end who tries to french kiss the wife. Classic horror.I watched it the other night wearing headphones and it definitely creeped me out.

I thought it was a good story and a good idea, but hated certain scenes that just didn't fit with the film. E.g. gas mask scene, demon sharpening his nails. e.t.c. Which ruined the flow of the film. I also hated the acting, thought it was pretty bad. But i enjoyed the film minus a few bits.
I did find some parts very scary and jumpy, especially when they gave the audience no build up.
