Christina Hoff Summers, the Factual Feminist, is back with a new video discussing the origins of Internationalist and the dangers of how it can cause an implosion with the feminist movement in college campuses.

Interesting video. I like how she doesn't attack intersectional feminism for being wrong necessarily, just points out the problems and divisions it tends to create within feminist groups.

The part on "Victim Creep" pretty much sums up the entire victimization movement on the internet and in millennial society today.

Looking back on the last 6 years of my life since deciding to move away from becoming a university professor, and seeing where campus politics is/has heading/headed I am extremely grateful I made that decision... as a cisgendered white male especially.

I couldn't imagine myself putting up with the politics of NORMAL post-graduate work (I was told I would not be doing my own research until I got tenure, and would be working on whatever professor I was under's research) and now with this professional victim movement? I doubt I could handle teaching classes without being reprimanded for saying something someone found "offensive". And I was going into religious studies no less, an already sensitive topic for many.

Anyways, I'm quite glad I settled into a male-dominated field of work (truck driving) and don't have to deal with this bullshit drama on a professional level.

They are struggling to get support. People are looking to support something more universal in todays world. Like Equalism. I think we will see the rise of Equalism and the fall of other social identities.

A 2004 Peterbilt 379 RH with a 2002 500hp CAT C-15 MBN single-turbo motor and Eaton Fuller 13-speed transmission.

I get paid hourly, since I'm a regional/city driver. And no, I don't carry any firearms. Not only is this Canada, but I have no need to defend myself like I would if I drove in the US (violent muggings at truck stops are unfortunately common down there).

@foxhound_fox: Nothing wrong with being a truck driver. All work is noble as they say. It's good that you are regional. That long haul over the road stuff seems brutal. I don't think I could do it. I work in heavy industry so I talk to truck drivers from time to time, hear some pretty crazy stories.

Haha, I do (mostly did) play a lot of ETS2 before getting into trucking. It certainly wasn't the inspiration (that I think came from early childhood as a subconscious motivation and playing with toy trucks plus the huge desire for me to learn how to drive anything and everything) but it contributed to it.

I can tell you though, ETS2 isn't very accurate to the real thing (it's like Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport are to racing... accurate enough to give you a sense, but not a true "simulation"). There is a lot more to controlling the truck than just pushing the accelerator and brake when appropriate. It's about reading traffic and predicting what they'll do before they do it. It's about controlling your speed while decelerating to the point where you don't stop at a red light and can roll through when it goes green (it's a huge benefit to fuel economy not having to start out from first gear every time you stop).

On top of that, there is a WHOLE lot more work done outside the truck when you aren't driving it. Pre-trip inspections, load securement (for us flat bed drivers) and paperwork, paperwork, paperwork. Tons of things to consider while driving that most people don't even begin to fathom when they cut us off to make an exit instead of just slowing down, passing in behind and taking their exit normally.

And I LOVE my job. I hated running OTR (sleeping in the truck for 5-6 days a week) but got lucky last October and landed a regional position at the same company (I'm home every night and often do more physical work than driving in a day). It's one of those things I can see myself doing for the rest of my life and not having a care in the world about anything else (career-wise I mean). And in the end, it's truly why I'll always say to people they should work a job they are passionate about. Absolutely GUNG-HO about that they wake up in the morning, eager to start the day... and like me, get kind of needy on weekends to get back to work a little quicker on Monday. I couldn't imagine sitting at a desk. It just doesn't appeal to me at all.

I'm working on trying to get some video equipment together (like a GoPro or something) to film the drives I have. But here is an image of what, to me, is the best view in the whole world:

The only thing that could make it better is if I were driving a 379 EXHD with a 550hp 6NZ CAT C-15 with straight pipes. The Jake brakes on my truck are LOUD. The Jakes on something like that would be sensational.

Very few people in this world really appreciate what the trucking industry does for society. Without trucks running like they do, hospitals would shut down within a couple days. Grocery stores and gas stations in a week. Everything else within two weeks. Trucks feed the economy and keep it stocked with things to buy and make our lives better. Before I got into the industry, I had NO IDEA what it took to really be a driver on this level, and I worship the ground OTR drivers walk on (when they aren't driving). It takes a very special kind of person to do that work and it often means almost (realistically: essentially) no social life/family life.

Hell, most rural communities (at least here in Canada) would have to shut down their major industries within a few days if trucks stopped picking up the goods they shipped out. I visited pretty much every lumber mill in Northern Alberta and Saskatchewan in my time on the highway, and they pump out lumber at these places like no tomorrow. If you don't work at the school or retail businesses in these communities, you work at the lumber mill, and your entire existence depends on production and distribution. Trucks stop coming? Your life is over. There is no other work.

Anyways, I've definitely derailed this thread enough. Back to FEMINISM!

Actually, i didn't play that much ETS2 since i prefer American trucks (like the one you have :D) (played the hell outta games like 18 Wheels series) hence i'm gonna get the latest Installment in the series, American Truck Simulator! It has got pretty good reviews and will get updates just like ETS2, which SCS supported it so well.

Anyways, i wish you get the new desired truck and keep rocking!
