[QUOTE="dmc333"]Nokia n810. It can play nes, snes, genesis, gamboy advanced games all in one.HardQuorPSP for this very reason. Also, with a PSP, unlike an iPod, your purchase wont be outdated by another hardware iteration 6 months later. I don't understand the logic of buying a product because they won't make a better version of it. It's not like it changes what you bought. I think that's a dubious claim anyway as they actually have improved the PSP and they probably will further. I could see like not buying the first version of a product because there will probably be a better one and the first run is usually the most likely one to have problems, but to say that you'll buy something simply because there will not be a better one doesn't really make sense to me. I mean, if you could have a cardboard box knowing that there will not be a better version would you take that over an iPod Touch? That's not meant to deride the PSP; I'm just saying that line of reasoning doesn't really make a lot of sense.
Anyway, n810 plays all that? I'm going to guess illegally but that would be pretty sweet.
Touch, for all the multimedia in a tiny clever package. Plus apps! :PmetroidfoodI've said it before. The iPod Touch is probably the best PDA on the market. ;) (Or at the very least it was when it was released.) (Before someone takes that the wrong way, I should point out that I have one for that very reason.)

I personally disagree. The lack of stylus support or any buttons is crippling IMO. Plus there are far fewer apps available for it compared to Palm and WM PDAs.

See, there is one thing about most PDAs that really irritates the hell out of me and that is the lack of storage space. It's just inexcusable at this point. Also, what I mean is that it's a PDA that also plays music and also surfs the web. I don't want to lug half a dozen electronic devices around if I don't have to. It's too bad it doesn't have a camera (although the iPhone does). Actually, it's highly unlikely I would have bought one if not for the ability to surf the web.PSP for this very reason. In Apple's case, it's not that they simply release newer versions, it's that they release newer versions for almost literally any reason, and at incredibly short intervals. No one likes buying a product at a premium price to find that there's a newer version of it released 6 months later, because no one wants to feel like they've been left in the digital dust of progress. Again, unique to Apple is the fact that this progress is fabricated. Also, with so many iterations, accessory manufacturers hardly are able to keep up supply for every version, and are forced to support the newest versions over the older ones. And i may be wrong, but i believe that up until the ipod touch, once a newer ipod was released, it meant no more firmware updates for previous versions of the ipod. All in all, the constant reiterations are just a marketing technique, used to dupe users into buying more of the same, in the name of vanity.See, there is one thing about most PDAs that really irritates the hell out of me and that is the lack of storage space. My HTC 6800 takes Micro SDHC cards, which are available in up to 16GBs now. Sure you could say that's an extra cost, but lower cost of my device more than makes up for that. It also plays music and video, and surfs the web (by either EVDO or WiFi). And it has a camera, though like all built in cameras the quality is... well lets just say they shouldn't replace a real cameras.

To me it seems like you're singling out Apple just because it gets more attention when they do it. If we took the closely related iPhone for example, I could easily point out how pretty much EVERY cell phone manufacturer does this.

I forgot to mention one thing: I don't want a device where I have to pay for cell phone service on it (or pay so much more for it without the phone service that it's pointless not to get the service). That's just me though. I have little need for it. That's why I got an iPod Touch and not an iPhone.I forgot to mention one thing: I don't want a device where I have to pay for cell phone service on it (or pay so much more for it without the phone service that it's pointless not to get the service). Well okay, that's a fair point. There are a few non-phone PDAs out there, but it's a dying breed.
For me it may sense though since I already needed a cell phone.
