2 bed 2 bath 1088 sq. ft., washer and dryer in unit, 1/2 garage space and in good neighborhood. I have to pay all utilities. :( I know it's said that you should only spend 1/3 of your monthly income on rent, but I'm looking at around 45% of my monthly income with rent and utilities.

For most of the country that's good to slightly high. Here in CA what that place offers would be $1700+.

That sounds about right for most places actually. It depends largely where you live though.

Yeah I was paying 1100 a month for a really small one bedroom closet with a toilet and fridge for a couple years.

really depends on where you live to be honest, where I'm from though that sounds pretty good we shouldn't be the people you should be discussing this with though, you should be seeing what else is in the rental market where you live, so you compare prices for what you get

Up here in Michigan that is ridiculious. Something like 600 is closer to what a medium sized one would be.

Depends on where you live. I live in Texas, and my apartment is 2 br, 2 bath, 1,100 sq foot, fully furnished, and the cost per month is about $950, everything except for electricity included. So monthly I pay like $500 ish.

It's a really nice apartment and I like living there, so it's worth it to me.

That all depends on where it is located, and how much the average wage is. Where I live, that is probably about $300-400 cheaper.

$885 would net you a home in Florida, not just a rental - unless you go to Miami-Dade, or Daytona Beach.

As many have stated, when compared to the national average then it is slightly high. However, in many locations that is rather low.

To give an example, I live on the outskirts of one of the fastest growing areas in the United States and that amount sounds normal, if not low, for my area.

However, one can rent an old trailer in the middle of nowhere close to my hometown for much less than that. Just do not expect pizza to be delivered to your house, expect no cell phone signal, and do not even bother trying to get cable or DSL internet. You may also have to drive out of the county to find a job too.

Sounds pretty decent to me. I pay a little over $1000 for two bedrooms, one bathroom, and maybe 900 sq ft (and no washer/dryer, parking is extra). I am, however, close to downtown in a large city.

Nope, near where I live there are alot of rich bastards, and everytime I walk through their streets I felt like their beautiful two/three storey houses are laughing at me. Damn you rich people, some day I'll be laughing at you.

That man lives rent-free. He has no room to b**** about the rent. Granted that free rent is in exchange for maintainence of the building he lives in, but still...

That is dirt cheap especially if you can get a roommate, but then again I pay 1770 with no garage and no second bathroom.
