I was talking to a friend awhile back and he doesn't go to movies because he says guys who go to the movies alone are creepy.  But why cant a guy go and see a movie??  I'm not sure why that's creepy.  When I see a guy alone at a movie, I just assume he wants to see the movie lol.

They're creepy only if they go alone on a Friday night. Otherwise, meh.

No idea what is creepy about it. I go alone often because either it is an indie/foreign film that none of my friends could sit through, or I might see something before running errands on a Saturday morning. Seeing a film, more than most things, can be done alone because it doesn't require interacting with others.

Generally speaking, no. But it all depends on the movie. Guy by himself watching Pacific Rim? That's fine. Guy by himself watching Equestria Girls? Kind of creepy.

When I was single, I did that all the time. Why buy a second movie ticket if you don't have to not to mention those expensive snacks? Then it was off to the bar to hit on the girls some other poor smuck already paid a fortune liquoring up.

Not creepy but there is a stigma that a guy alone at the movies is a loser.

I often think about going to see a movie alone but I too feel like I'd look creepy.  It may be because in todays world it seems more fitting to go see a movie with a friend.  My mother goes to movies by herself all the time, she has no problem with it.  My Dad is not "go see a show kinda guy"

Your friend is not alone.  I'm not sure what's wrong with it but, it just feels wrong...... and creepy!   Kinda like a guy alone at the park..............:?

I did it once, and I did not feel comfortable. It's a good think it was Star Wars Episode II and no one cared. I do think it depends on the type of movie. A long guy at a scifi or action movie isn't a big deal. A lone guy at a romcom or kids movie is creepy.

i don't think so, but i bet that's what a lot of people think

i remember when i went to go see scott pilgrim with some friends: there was only a group of seats free at the very front row, so i said, fvck that, and found a single seat uptop. i did get some pretty judgemental looks and quips from kids

It's not creepy, it's just sad. If I don't have anyone to go to the movies with, I just don't go because it makes me sad.

I often go to see movies by myself, especially if they are "guy" type flicks. I would say that a guy alone at a chick flick would be creepy or gay.

I'm not joking at all. This is the main reason I don't go to the cinema by myself because it always makes me feel like I have no friends. It's one of my top five problems with myself. It affects me so much that I never went to go see the Avengers because I had nobody to go with. It affects me so much that I probably won't see Pacific Rim or Wolverine or Kick-Ass 2 even though I really, REALLY want to go see them.

This is just stupid. If there is a movie that I really want to see like Dark Knight rises then I'll see it alone because I just have to see the movie.

Again this is silly.

Yeah, but I'll know that I'm alone. The only movie I've ever seen alone was Dark Knight Rises on a Friday and there was only about 30 people there for it. I think they got scared off because of the Aurora shooting.

Because I already have low self-esteem. Being alone at the movies only lowers it more, so I just don't go. It really sucks.

Depends, if it's a packed cinema I don't see the big deal, I've done it. But I think it's a bit creepy if there only like 5 other people in there and that one guy just slinks in at the back behind everyone like a f***ing serial killer.

And ever since I went to see Dark Knight Rises, only terrible things have happened since. Benghazi, Obama reelected, Newtown, Boston Marathon, etc. I swear if I go see Kick-Ass 2 alone scientists will discover an asteroid about to hit the planet and the only way to stop it is to have everyone see Armageddon in theaters by themselves and I won't and I'll destroy the world.

Hang on..  How many males do you see alone at the movies when you go?   Would you go mini putting alone if you enjoyed it?   I went golfing about 10 years ago by myself and felt so outta place.   My GF at the time always golfed with me on the weekends but I had the day off work and felt like golfing....  I just felt so wierd doing it alone!

The Lovely Bones.. Nobody else wanted to see it so I went myself, I felt pretty uncomfortable at the start when people were walking in looking for seats, but when the movie started everybody was too busy thinking about how much it sucked to care about my lack of company.

Also, My girlfriend took me to see Marley & Me but it got too sad, so I walked out half way and went into Madagascar 2 and I was getting some really strange looks.
