Is America ready for a Jewish President?

Yeah, Republicans said the same about Bush, and Democrats say the same about Clinton, but the status quo is the same as it ever was...

Is America ready to stop focusing on party, race, ethnicity and just put someone into power who would do a good job?

I think the fact that people focus on the label of the person running is pathetic. Why does it matter, I don't get how people can make such a big deal about what race or religion someone is when running for office. It really should have nothing to do with Presidency, and we should only be looking at who is the better choice and who has better policies. The fact that people just want to get a black president in the office or get a Jewish president is ridiculous. The president is supposed to be someone who knows what they are doing and can make the right choices for the better of the country, not a freaking icon. I don't care if he is one of the ugliest or most random race or religion, if he or she is the better choice that is who people should vote for. It is not high school, this should not be a popularity contest.

But yeah I agree for the most part. The thing is, I could never vote for a religious person who says their faith affects their policies.

We say it doesn't matter, but it does. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot you can do about it, just try to take as many steps forward in each generation as possible and hope that one day it actually doesn't matter.
