Is America really full of gangs and violence?

Just going down the block to the store today I had to dodge three drive-bys and pop a cap in two fools. I live in a town of around 20,000 in rural Illinois (about 80 miles outside of Chicago) and the streets are usually slick with blood by sunset. You don't even want to see the larger cities dude.

Sorry for responding so late, I had to drive my buddy across town to blow up a rival gang member's house. I was lucky that I had my vest on because I got hit twice. I had to circle around the block twice, it's not as easy to shoot an RPG while moving as it looks.

Yes we have alot of violence but its not as bad as many shows make it out to be. Yes in the bad areas it that bad and you better be carrying and wearing flakvest, but that not what most of america is like.

This isn't the wild west, we don't have gun fights on the corner of every street.

It's like a real life version of counter-strike or modern warfare just walking to the store to get groceries. Everyone in America has a gun and we spend all our time shooting at each other. Even the most minor of arguments are settled with pistol duels, with losers being left to die in the streets since healthcare is for the weak and socialists. The only time we don't have our guns in hand is at the dinner table, and even then if someone doesn't say grace or puts their elbows on the table, they get shot in the face.

I live in Allentown. Its on the top 100 list of most dangerous cities in the United States. I've never been shot at, stabbed or anything. I've also never seen anyone get shot at. And if you did you probably visited the lamest parts. Go see crater lake, yosemite national park, grand canyon, yellowstone, Mount rainier, Mount McKinley. Obviously it is not the same everywhere in every city but it is proportionately the highest in any developed country...by far. Every indicator whether it be % of popoulation in prison, homicide rate per 100,000, violent crime per 100,000 etc. Every single indicator is3 - 10 times higher than other modern developed countries.

Apparently it is ok though. Just avoid those parts of town ;)

Again, that does not mean that if you visit you are doomed. But it certainly isn't good. And it certainly isn't a shiny beacon for the world. And it won't change until enough people wake up to the fact that they are a 2nd rate society.... ironically with less 'freedom' than most other modern developed countries.
