lazilla7

We are definately not the 'stupidest' country, if that even can be measured.

[QUOTE="joetira"]yes we are, the only people who think China is a threat are dumb liberals and Anti-Americanssinarilias

You're an idiot. China has a capable and fairly well equipped military as well as the largest military in the world if you think they couldn't pose a threat you're an ignornt idiot.

China has outdated air forces and their Navy is pathetic compared to ours. Their largest army? Poorly equipped, you won't see a Chinese soldier with the same kind of training running around wearing a bullet-proof vest while toting a M-16 in the dark with night vision on.

They don't even have stealth aircraft, or naval craft either.

Sure, they have the economy and national support to fight a direct war, but thats moot if they can't reach us.

If every army in the world including China went to war with the US army, the US would win in less than 48 hours.(Although US civilian casulaties would be....)

Just like the US handled Iraq which must obviously be a militaristic powerhouse considering the troubles it's posed for the US military. War between the US and China would not be short because both sides would draw powerful allies depending on who instigated the conflict. Other nations would not stay out of such a war which is what some people in this thread seem to be assuming. The only way to end the war quickly would be to somehow manage to detonate multiple atomic warheads throughout China which would result in The World versus the US (the US stands no bloody chance in that case. It has a strong military, but not that strong) or a huge environmental catastrophe which would basically screw up the environment and civilizations as we know it beyond recognition.

I  think that if you feel that the United States is functioning at its highest level as it is, then you might want to rethink that. The US is at the forefront of military technology and capability, so by definition, we are the most powerful. Denying that is rediculous, sure, we lost a couple wars, in which case many factors contributed. You guys are ignoring that overall as a nation, our potential is greater than that of other nations.

To make myself clear when i say "stupidest" im not saying every citizen is, im describing the majority. Look at our poor schooling. Most of the schools ive gone too 75% of the people have no idea whats going on and thats including the teachers. We need enforced learning and not just turning in our work just to say we did it. As a freshman in my enlgish class ive littarly wrote a whole essay on nothing about the prompt and got away with it. Teacher just looks at it and says good job. Some times im surprised he could even read. We need teachers that are for the quality of learning not the easy income and benefits. These type of teachers who put no extra effort into teaching their students are causing mass production of stupidity.

Out of curiosity, who do you think, in the long run has a greater potential (power wise)?

well in the longer run of things many of the nations will know the mistakes others have made, plus with the population rising and climate change, really just the extremely big land masses, plus resourses comes into play.

Im really sorry about making a new topic, but that "does america own all" seemed to incite people to think that I meant that america literally OWNS everything on earth.

So, I created this topic

yes, I am trolling

and proud of it!!

Apollo5000

Yes, it is the most powerful nation on Earth. Of course, the US military withdrew from Vietnam and China does pose a threat to us, but this is only because the US is set back by one thing: Mercy.

That's right, mercy.

Take this into account: The United States has the largest and most advanced Air Force and Navy in the world. The US military and Marines are also themost advancedin the world, though not the largest, they are definitely one of the larger. Our capacity to cause large scale destruction is unparalleled, limited only by this thing we call mercy. Why isn't every missile packed to the brim with explosives that can destroy half a city, why don't they ever completely destroy a nation, why do they refrain from using biological and toxic weapons? Because they have mercy for innocents. If we unleashed the full might of the US armed forces, we would have destroyed the world 7 times over, literally.

The US military does not do any of this, because they are merciful, and as humane as possilbe.

I read something about people like you. People who think war is no longer an interactive process with us, but a concept of what we(the americans) can do to them (the enemy). they said this philosophy was made by people who lacked previous experience thinking that technology played a huge role in warfare

And it does'nt?

Of course, there are other things that come into play. Politics, morale, the number of soldiers, economics, international support/pressure...

But in terms of pure firepower/destructive capabilities, the US military is second to none. This why it is the most powerful? Would we win war in the world simply from technology alone? No. But we can certainly destroy it.

Also, given we had an ample number of soldiers, domestic and international support, and high morale, does that make us the most powerful nation on Earth?

Combined with the military's destructive powers, I believe yes.

Again, thats something to be proud of...

Would you rather us defund the military? We can defend ourselves with flowers and unicorns. Please! Wake up, would you rather China or Russia have a more powerful military? Sounds like you do.

I fear Russia more than Iran or South Korea.  They are turning back into a communist nation.Â
