Here thats about what it costs after taxes for a 4 gig music holder. Ive got a Discman right here... is it really worth 300 to be able to carry 50 cds at once?

I carry around 5000 songs and I paid $299.  I use it everyday.  Yes it's worth it.

No, theyre not worth it; they die on you so much its not even funny.

Just get yourself one of those sony ericsson walkman phones, they store up to 1000 songs and pretty damn good phones anyway.

If not then go for a ZEN.

I have an iPod Nano, carries 1,000 songs. Has a good battery life of about 8-10 hours, good sound, never have problems with it.

Not really no, and me saying that is ironic considering I love Apple products in general. See, not everybody who own a Mac has to be an iPod junkie :P

Considering the amount of memory it holds, yes. I got my 60 Gig for $400, and at that price, it's a steal.

I'd prefer a black 30GB Zune for $250 and protective case and a carrying case and car charger.

And it's well worth it.  I'm over 1000 songs, 2 tv shows and 2 movies.  And that only killed 5GB

Mine was $350. I have 8,198 songs 9 movies, 50 something podcasts, and 12 TV shows on it and I use it every day. Definately worth it.

No. I've had two many problems with mine (it's broken right now), and they're not any better than cheaper alternatives.
