Im 16 and have been just realizing the fact that im graduating in 2 years. That means, college, my own job, my own house, marriage sometime or later, and everything. The whole job and car thing really sparked these thoughts. Ive already been drowned in job applications but i havent got a job yet. I do have a car though, and my parents are helping me pay for gas and shtuff. I guess Im not really afraid of getting older and completely independent, im just shocked at how fast i grew up. Its weird.

..i had to buy my own car, with my own money, get my own insuarnce and pay for my own gas. you're unlucky to have parents willing to buy everything for you. give em the damn car back and make it on your own like a real man. otherwise stop complaining, cause from my end you still sound like a baby, not a boy/almost a man.
but i guess you're part of this new information age. you were raised on the internet. not by your parents or hard work. do you even do chores/house work? seriously you little kids piss me off these days. getting everything handed to you with a silver lining. no consequences, no work.
scared to grow up.pfff when i was your age i was already working full time going to school and living on my own.
High School has been a blast since I am more social but it will be over in about a year and a half.
It's inevitable but I am slightly worried about getting into a good collage.

I was never complaining, i never said i was afraid, all i said is that im shocked at how fast everything is coming up on me. I am thankful that my parents helping me out big time, i really am. And they didnt buy me a car, i just used one of theirs that they didnt use anymore. Quit trying to sound smart, you just sound like an jerk. I hope you fail in life with your smart-ass comments.
Not afraid. But like you, I am fully aware of how quickly my life is passing by, and there are some things I miss about my earlier years. But by the same token, there are many things I also enjoy about being older.
It would be really nice to live one's entire life with the body of an early 20 year old. The worst part about aging is how your body becomes more difficult to maintain and more prone to injury and disease in later years.

You sound like the stereotypical old geezer who tells the story of how he walked 10 miles to school barefoot in -30 weather, up-hill both ways. It's nice that you became independent at such an early age - that was your choice - but there's no need to trash on others who don't. And frankly, I'm of the opinion that it's stupid to be working at age 16 rather than focusing on schoolwork.
Not really. Its something youve never done before, so naturally theres fear. But once you actually do it, you see it really isnt that different from life before. You move out, youre paying for your own food and gas and all that, you cook for yourself, have a job, but just because you do those things for yourself dosen't really change who you are inside. I think thats what people are afraid of most, that once you move out you will be completely different and life will never go back to how what youre used to, but its not like that really. I still sort of feel that way about getting married or buying my own house since I'm still in college right now, but when I think back on how I've become more independent over the years, I remember its just a gradual process that you don't really notice.
God I feel so old, talking to people about growing up. Thats probably what I'm more afraid of. Getting old. Can some really old person, say about 50-60 come along and please give me the same kind of post I just gave?
[QUOTE="LosDaddie"]Not only that, but college is the best 4yrs of your life. For some people, maybe. It was four years of academia for me. Mix 4/10 interest, 2/10 intimidation, and 4/10 drudgery. It works out to a moderately enjoyable four years at best.Elraptor
I like that one. But I didn't really feel the drudgery. Like the other guy, I thought university was a blast. There were a couple of times where the weight of assignments I had procrastinated on made it very unenjoyable, but by and large, it was a really good time.
Uggh, you bring up the one downer to being an "older" user here. These kiddos have no idea what their bodies are going to do to them. I was in perfect health and could stay up and do almost anything I wanted at 20. At 34, everything I have hurts almost all the time. Not afraid. But like you, I am fully aware of how quickly my life is passing by, and there are some things I miss about my earlier years. But by the same token, there are many things I also enjoy about being older.
