Yes, they are terrible. M Shadows has got to be the most arrogant sounding vocalist in music today. Not to mention they completely and utterly rip off and try to be the next Guns N Roses.
Their old stuff was passable metalcore, whoever says its metal is wrong.
Their new stuff is an abomination, a "metal" band that tries to be mainstream and appeal to all the myspace kids, while also being a hit with normal everyday generic rock music listener. They are a disgusting group, making money off of being complete rip jobs and having egos like you wouldn't believe.

...
Waking the Fallen was definitely metal. Sounding the Seventh Punk is an odd mix of punk and metal, but more punk than anything. Self-Titled is pretty much hard rock.
As for City of Evil, it is hard to call it not metal yet say Maiden is IMO. I definitely think they were trying to emulate Iron Maiden with that other album.
Waking the Fallen was not metal, it had pretty much the same Metalcore (and a little bit of Post-Hardcore) structure as Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. There's a lot of breakdowns that were used in both of those albums, and it didn't really have the right feel to the point where you could call them metal.
In fact, pretty much everything before City of Evil was the furthest they were from metal, but even then, they haven't really come that far. Even so, based on the way they have been progressing, it's obvious that they don't intend to actually be real metal. I can see how the way they added some heavier elements in their previous work made them seem as though they were much closer to an actual metal sound given that City of Evil sounded like a mix of Iron Maiden and a bit of Guns N' Roses, but it didn't really meet any decent metal standards in terms of how it was composed and executed.
Metal-core is a sub-genre of Metal. It's metal.
No, metalcore is not a sub-genre of Metal. It's not a sub-genre of Punk or Hardcore Punk either. It is its own genre.
It's a fusion genre.. So a part of both.
Exactly, so it's not actually Metal. It's a mix of Hardcore and Metal, so because of that, it can't be considered to be either.
Does it actually matter
Will anyone stop/start liking them just because of what genre they are classified as?
I don't know if anyone will stop or start liking them because of what genre they fall under. I was never able to get into them a couple years ago when I tried listening to all of their albums up to City of Evil. It's not so much that I don't like them because they are metalcore, it's just that people tend to make the mistake of saying that they're metal, which they aren't. That sort of misassumption just irritates me. It's one thing when it comes down to opinion, and another when it comes down to classification.
It's your opinion dude.

1. Fix your quote, add a [/ QUOTE ] (without the spaces) after his words
2. Instead of just say that he's wrong, tell him why. I agree with you, but you need to actually give reasons.
It's your opinion dude. bluezyHot damn, cut the quote chains. I like reading posts, not quoted posts x infinity.
Sorry.. I was just too lazy to cut the rest off.
I really don't like them. I don't think they're all that great, I don't get why people like them, but that's just me. However, I can't stand it when someone says they're metal. Why does it matter if it metal or not, i dont consider them metal they are just rock. As long as they have good music it doesnt matter what group of music they are considered

It doesn't matter. Like I said before, I don't like them, and I don't really care that much about whether or not someone does like them. It's just that they simply are not metal, and I keep on hearing this misconception that they are metal all over the place.

everything you said there is wrongstedtfeldplease elaborate, or you fail.Well they aren't trying to rip off of GNR and the rest is just your stupid opinion. Opinions aren't stupid unless it's like saying that the Earth is the centre of the universe, which is proven that it's not.
Plus, Axl and Shadows have/had the same vocal coach or something like that, so you can't blame them for sounding somewhat similar.

That's not the only thing that bothers me. I've seen guys who actually listen to the band. I was 99% sure that only girls would listen this band but damn was I wrong.
The ignorant Avenged bashing makes me lol:lol:
Sorry, I just can't take some people seriously. I don't expect everyone to like the band or anything, but by God some people are just incredibly stupid about their music tastes.....
I know many people who think they are bad too but I think they have some really good songs such as Beast and the Harlot, A Little Piece of Heaven, and Almost Easy. Them are some of the best songs I've heard in awhile. A Little Piece of Heaven is just freakin insane.
Yes, but arguing about musical style preferences is almost entirely pointless.SpaceMoose
True. It's just personal opinion.
They aren't one of my fave. bands but they aren't too bad. I must say this cover of Walk by Pantera is actually pretty damn decent.
I liked City of Evil a lot, I'm more of a CoE fan than an a7x fan. On waking the fallen, I only liked Second Heartbeat, And all things will end, chapter four, and i won't see you tonight pt. 1. On "avedged sevenfold" i liked afterlife, a little piece of heaven, unbound, and almost easy.diamonds in the rough, only until the end and the fight.
P.S. City of Evil was amazing. :P Blinded in chains, sidewinder, the wicked end: I wish they would play these live more.
