Nahh, if people in your school are saying that they are hypocrits. My little sister is a senior in highschool and is fairly popular.. she is always complaining that a lot of the guys just want to play videogames and not hang out with girls. Which is fine by me.. heh. The guys that are her friends are your standard jock stereotype... a lot of them are on the football and or hockey team.
They may say that to seem cool but I would imagine that most of them are "closet" gamers. Just tell them they need to come out of the closet...
Who cares..do it because you enjoy it...don't let others decide what you should like or not like...who cares about popularity..it won't last forever..it's a waste of time...and all those people who surrounded you will fade away..and then you may have missed an opportunity to have fun...and to gain a new fun hobby just because of them...
No, though it can often work the other way round.markop2003You've been gone a while. :| I was scared. Don't ever do that to me again!
Appearance (looking like a weirdo) and lack of confidence (acting like a loner) are what make you unpopular, not your hobbies. People may disagree with what you do as being fun, but if they think you're a weirdo simply because you play and enjoy video games, they're the weird ones.
There is a difference between being a gamer and a game crazy nut. If you babble about games all day long and have no insight on any other subject then you will be unpopular for the lack of communication skills with others. Now if you are getting shunned because gaming is a hobby you enjoy then you are dealing with people that... well they may not understand you and that's fair or they may be pricks that have this idea of what is kewl and not. Those people exist too unfortunately.
Nope, I talk about it every once in awhile when hanging out with big groups of friends. But most people wouldn't be able to guess. I go out, party, get with girls, really into MMA. I'm not what you would call a "nerd" But who doesn't game at least a little?
This is not true at all. Doesnt matter where you are high school or college (or anywhere for that matter) if your walking around not talking to anybody acting like an anti-social loner people are gonna think your a wierdo. Its just in college people aren't surrounding you for 6 hours a day so you never get the chance for them to let you know.Popularity only exists in HS....thank the dramatic morons for starting that.
In college, this term doesn't even exist. People don't even know you unless you talk to them!

Oh gawd.
I'd kill myself if I was in that.
that's high school, where doing something or not doing something can make a person popular/unpopular
Everyone knows I'm a gamer and computer nerd but they still like me cause I'm awesome (there's a few gamers in school who are just plain weird so no wonder they get picked on). :P
Why do the popular people think everyone else envies them? I never did, and truth be told I usually looked down on them in H.S. because they were so superficial.
I'd rather die than feel I need the approval of anyone else. It's just a dumb and ass-backwards way to live. Why value your self-esteem on what others think? That's called 'insecurity'.
if u run around in the halls pretending to play COD yes.
how do i no? own experiences... god who new grade 12s no how to falcon punch
It really depends on what games you play, how much you game, and how you game.
It is cool to play something like MW2 with all your friends. Almost everybody that I know plays it, both popular kids and unpopular kids.
Something like World of Warcraft orDragon Age: Origins is probably less "cool" to play, because you come off as one of those weird Dungeons and Dragons Role-Playing lovers. (Like someone at LAIRE in Role Models)
And any game will make people think you are a loser if you play for like 10 hours a day. This would be my issue. :P Although it doesn't really matter THAT much as long as you aren't playing games when you could be hanging out or something.
Also, don't try to talk to people about video games if they are just a casual few hours a week gamer. You will appear to be obsessed.
Try to find a group of friends that like to play games too. That will give you a common subject to talk about and you can game together.
Everybody plays video games now. The school loser and the most popular guy in the school both go home and play MW2. Video games have nothing to do with popularity.

The funny thing is, the people who make fun of D&D people are typically the same people who play Fantasy Football, which is basically the same damn thing.
