I'd prefer for them to create enemies that aren't currently battling us. I'd feel weird playing as a taliban soldier shooting Americans, knowing my brother is in Afghanistan fighting them.
Doesn't matter if it is. They have the right to portray whatever the hell they want in their game, and anybody who finds it offensive can simply not buy the damn thing if it's that much of a problem to them.

Why is this funny? She lost her son in a war and suggests we shouldn't re-enact these events solely for entertainment purposes. She doesn't come off as being radical or belligerent in her argument. That is pretty sick. So Americans should kill Americans in a game about the war in the Middle East?

I'd find it no odder than being able to play a gang member or serial killer in countless games, knowing that gang members are turning neighborhoods in the US into warzones.
i understand how some people will see it as disrepectful, especially those with close relations to the war, but i suppose for the general populus its nothing but a game and wont have any effect
Well personally it's still an ongoing issue in the world and I wouldn't enjoy it because I have family that's in the military and they do go over to that area of the world and I'm always worried about them. It's not something I would play anyways for that reason just because I don't feel comfortable thinking about how my family is in kind of that situation at the moment but what others do is their choice, not mine.
Nope, if playing an American soldier and killing hundreds of russians and koreans isn't disrespectful I don't see why playing the taliban is.
Though for perspective you can always watch the fox news story on it, they did a good job trying to be unbiased for this one, instead of say.. mass effect :P. It feels funny recommending a fox news article, but it was done well.
I have an uncle who was in Iraq and just got back from Afghanistan. But I have no problem with this because I can firmly seperate reality from fiction.
This topic is totally different than the one created in system wars. :P On topic: I think they're overreacting just a tad. This game is no different than a WW2 game. Although it is an ongoing war, that doesn't diminish the fact that WW2 was real too. There are still some WW2 vets around. Nobody asked how they feel. And also, its only for the multiplayer. You won't be playing the Taliban in the single player.
In C&C: Generals (Zero Hour), you can play as a middle eastern terrorist organization, which, in their campaign, decimated US forces and China had to come in and save our asses.
I saw that crazy San Francisco lady up on TV saying she was offended and all. Bunch of BS, most of the time its a choice whether to be offended or not and she is obviously making a choice. Personally I think she is doing it for her 15 seconds of fame and sympathy... she's angry about the loss of her son and is trying to find an outlet to release it on.
There always has to be a bad guy in games that have conflict. I will say that there is a line that probably shouldnt be crossed, and I dont think any popular modern game has really crossed that line. Modern Warfare 2 came close with the "running through the airport killing people," but the player had the option not to play it. However, MoH has not even come close to that line...
The same people that find the Community Center in NY very disrespectful ONLY because of the inclusion of a Mosque within it for worship are the same people who would find being able to play as Taliban just as offensive, if not more

Just because it's more recent. I think that playing as Nazis during the 1940's would have been a problem if it was possible. I mean do you think kids could have dressed up like Nazi's for Halloween in the streets of Poland in 1946? The taliban is currently killing people in the US as we speak. Now, again, I don't have a problem with it but I'm just pointing out the situation.
The Taliban has never killed inyone in the US thats Al Queida (Sp) ......

The part that threw me off is "Currently" and "as we speak".
I was unaware of mass terrorist killings, or, well, ANY inside the US.
I was wondering about this too. This has been in the news recently. I personally have no problem with playing as the Taliban and shooting US troops in multiplayer but since so many people are burying children, parents, siblings, etc that were killed by the Taliban recently should it be removed? My boyfriend is the FPS player of the two of us and he's pretty psyched about a new MoH game coming out that is like Modern Warfare. :P

No. I think it's weird how people are somehow okay with Russians being massacred in so many games, but controversy arises as soon as Americans can be killed in the virtual world.
