I guess it's for Santa, because it's largely a secular holiday nowadays.

It's really 2 separate holidays. Christmas was originally a religious holiday. It's in modern times been taken over by the materialistic idea of presents. I personally celebrate the holiday as a religious one, but if your not religious you might as well celebrate the secular holiday of Christmas.

For me, even from my childhood, it is about Santa.

That's what I have associated with it more.

It has whatever meaning you ascribe to it. Is there truly any significance to a specific day of the year aside from what we ascribe to it? Certainly there is a cultural meaning to the day and that meaning depends upon your more immediate culture and social sphere. Do I myself seek to think more heavily upon the notion that God became man so that man might be redeemed before God during this time of the year? Yes, but I do not become angry at parents who have their children's picture made with Santa in the mall nor do I become angry at people who reject the holiday altogether.

This is a topic I'm not gonna touch. Was gonna say its for both Jesus and Santa if your Christian while possibly just Santa for everything else. But to avoid putting my foot in my mouth, I'll just say "I don't know"...

Families gather together to cherish the day Jesus Christ was born.ScottMescudi

My religion prevent me from celebrating Christmas as Jesus's birthday.RisethNameless

and most importantly celebrating the birth of jesus christ.

i know one thing for sure, i will not let my kids forget the true meaning of christmas when i have kids. yes, im gonna do the whole santa thing and whatnot, but i wont let them grow up with the misconception of not knowing the true meaning of christmas.taterfrickintot

You would think by now people would know that Christmas is NOT Jesus' birthday and has nothing to do with his birth, but that might be asking too much.

To me Christmas is about family and friends, the presents are an added bonus though :P

Jesus.

The mass media just decided to put its talons into the religious and joyful holiday and turn it into an easy money making scheme.

Not that it's bad or anything! :?

*looks over at previous years presents*

The japanese do celebrate christmas but its mostly for couples, new years is the gathering for families. I don't think christmas is for jesus or santa, its just a holiday to celebrate memories.

I think it was for Jesus originally but then Santa came along and made it all happy and joyful instead of boring and depressing.

You missed the joke, and now you're mimicking to cover that up. Just suck it up and say, "whoops, I missed that, my bad," instead of being a b1tch about it.

Mithra was actually born on Dec 25. Saturnalia was a week long holiday that led up to the 25th.

LOTS of legendary, mythical and folkloric people were born on Dec 25 and around the Winter Solstice. My birthday is also in two days.

I'm not mad, I'm amused that you're being a b1tch instead of just sucking it up and admitting to yourself what anyone who reads this knows: you're wrong. As for mad, you'd know when that happens... I tend to go completely off the rails and commit felonies.

It's funny how you just want to insult me by calling me a b1tch. As for missing the joke, I don't give two f*cks. kthnxbye
