It's considered the most realistic recreation. By the way....those types of pictures weren't routinely published in that era.

Saving Private Ryan's D-Day landing is realistic. People did get their arms blown off. Flamethrower troopers did explode when their packs got shot. There were plenty of soldiers that were crying and scared. The first troops landed did get mowed down by machine gun fire. D-Day was not a walk in the park, you ignorant moron. Bullets were flying, grenades were blowing up, lives were getting lost every second.
