Haha, football club. GOOOO BIGGG REEEEED.

UltimoIce

Might need to change the go big red now since join the Big Ten, that's IU's saying haha.

As someone that grew up in Indiana (about 30 minutes from Notre Dame, to be exact), I can tell you that not a soul in Indiana cares about the IU football team. So I don't think anyone will care. Just like no one will care that Northwestern calls themselves NU like us.

Well theres your problem growing up in Northern Indiana where Norte Dame is pretty much it haha. Central Indiana and South where I grew up in Bloomington (yeah yeah I know) very much cares although we don't expect much when it comes to making it to a bowl game.

[QUOTE="JasonDarksavior"]Man, wish I lived in USA. In Australia, sports is hardly taken seriously in school.. :(JasonDarksavior

It depends on the school.

Where I went the school was mad about sports. However, it wasn't the whole 'footballers are better than everyone else' attitude, as there were so many sports our school was good at. Our cricket, basketball, league, union, and socer teams were some of the best in the state. However, our school also had great debating, public speaking, etc. The funny thing is, half of the footballers were also in the choir, got top ranks in their grades, and did community service. Also, some of the most popular people in the school were not in fact sportsmen, but the highly intelligent group ...

Private school? Sounds like "The Kings School"

well sport is taken pretty seriously at that school, and all the other GPS schools for that matter. there's your answer. if you're looking for public schools that take sport seriously you might as well give up. anyway many public school kids who still want to play sport join local clubs. if you want you should try that, because its definitely much cheaper than going to one of those fancy GPS schools lol.

It is, but in high school it depends on where you go. My school, the team is a joke and only serves as really the laughingstock of the division. No one goes to the game for the actual game; they go for their friends. LZ71

My school, basicaly.

We don't take it seriously, well the coach does. ( a little too serious xD)

Exactly. When I was young fans would line up hours before the game started just to get a ticket when my hometown team played our rival(it's one of the top 10 high school football rivalries in the state). Cities literally shut down on Friday nights.

it also depends on where you live. I live near Los Angeles and we have no football team here and we're not a small city(3000 people in our highschool) where football seems to be most popular. It's more basketball over here.

Who would be an IU fan when Purdue and Notre Dame are in the state? I mean basketball season, go ahead and be a fan of IU. But football???

Football is the biggest sport at our school, but it isn't as you describe. Almost everyone goes to the games on Friday nights, but people don't walk around worshiping the quarterback or anything. Most people are just like, "Cool, you're on the football team?" I live in NC for reference.
