Wasn't the story behind it that Eli Roth found a website advertising it. That doesn't necessarily make it true.

Obviously the movie isn't but the idea about people paying to torture and kill people for fun is real. Just like Turistas selling peoples healthy organs.

naaaa theyre not, i actually watched both and well, they were sorta good but actually it is a stereotyped movie, so it kinda mixed all the stereotypes there and eli roth found some info of people there who would pay around 10,000 dollars to shoot or kill somebody, but the story itself as you getting kidnapped and tortured by rich ppl and all tht is pretty fake, well thought XD

yeah, at first it also scared the hell off me!

Ok the truth is that a group of three american tourists went to Slavakia and got tortured and were driven by these gorgeous women who were payed by the torturers to well torture them for large amounts of money. Not everything that happened in the movie though was true. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was also based on true events same for The Hills Have Eyes.

The hills have eyes was based on a true story in that we did kill miners who refused to leave...but they didn't come back and try to kill every as cannibalistic Cavemen.....

Texas Chainsaw Massacre isn't based on a true story...there was never a cannibalistic family killing young teenages in Texas...Leather face is loosely based off of Ed Gein http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gein

There's a real disorder (AKA Fetish) where people are sexually attracted to human torture.

Hostel may be that.

That's probably true, but I doubt it's as big or as well planned out as Hostel. Maybe some people just call this one guy to bring someone over to their house to torture. I doubt there would be a large factory like that. It's a creepy thought, though.

Also, you can just tell that that the Hostel movies are fake. There's no way Paxton or Beth would've gotten away from the murderers in the movie. I mean, the way they escape are so stupid... Those people must really be careless.

hostel wasn't ****. if you want a TRUE gore flick, check out Cannibal Holocaust, by Ruggero Deodato. It's hard to get a copy nowadays, but it's probably the most disgusting and disturbing movie you'll ever see.

in fact, it was so disturbing and realistic, that the authorities had it banned, and Ruggero Deodato was sent to court, and he was forced to show them how some of the special effects were made. (like the impalement scene.) He also had to bring back ALL the actors to show that they weren't actually killed during the filming of the movie.

but if you want a more depressing, and even MORE sadistic movie, check out Pier Passolini's 120 Days of Sodom;)

If this hasn't been explained already then, here goes. It says based on real/true events because the directors found a website or something talking about a murder vacation, blah blah blah, and you get the idea because Hostel was based off of it. Anyways, while it may not seem real to you and me because well...let's face it, it probably isn't, it is in actuality probably 100% real. While it may not be as organized as seen in the actual movie, i would find it hard to believe that no one on earth to this date has never tried that before. If you do find yourself in any situation as seen in Hostel, which you probably will now that the directors have added some very interesting scenes that will lead to their real life counter parts using them, thank the directors. Make sure you say you're Amsterdamian so that at least you will make sure the people aren't paid as much as they could have been for you because we all know Americans are the most expensive. Anyways, good luck and toodaloo.
