It won't hurt your car at all. Some people actually drive around with a rag instead of a gas cap.
Some of the newer models require it. My engine light came on, and it was due to the emissions control which can go off if the gas cap isn't on properly. I just got my truck a month ago, so I don't know all the details.
"A gas cap with a faulty seal could cost drivers more than $61 worth of gasoline a year due to evaporation." So yeah its good to drive with it on. And thats $61 if it has a faulty seal. With none would cost you I'm guessing over $100 of gas a year maybe

Your gas cap keeps in a power that opens the gate to Hell.TheokhothI thought hell was a firefull lake?
The cap keeps water and pollutants out and your gas in. It's pretty major.
And I do have experience with this because I lost my cap for my Honda and I was driving in a town about an hour away from home when it started raining heavily. The rain got in my gas and caused my car to die on the highway. I had to wait for it to quit raining before I could drive again. It wasn't a pleasant day.
gas evaporates fairly quickly, but besides that I dont think that it would hurt anything. Unless of course you were in a bad wreck and gass went everywhere.laughingman42:lol: that reminds me of the time my buddy dropped my bike in my backyard, the gas cap was loose and he got gas all over him. So I started shooting bottle rockets at him. (had a fire extinguisher next to the grill)
