No, honestly no white person is ever actually insulted by being called white. They may act insulted because they want to start somethng. There are some exceptions of kids growing up in all black neighborhoods being known as the white kid.
The problem with terms for blacks is that they eventually get used too much in a negative manner and the meaning becomes negative itself.
For example colored was an accepted term by blacks in the early part of the century of course as time went on the term was used in a negative manner so often that the term colored is now considered a racist term (even though the NAACP, means National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).
The same thing has happened to black, so many people have used it in a negative way to describe black culture that it can be seen as an offensive term. Right now most people don't feel African American is offensive but give it 20 years of demeaning speech and it too will feel like an offensive term.
 What black culture needs to do is stop getting offended by what they consider insults because it just becomes fire power for those that hate them. They had almost done this with the N-word which is freely used in black society (and not always in a negative way) but then becomes a faux paux for white culture to use it. My advise is to saturate the word so heavily into culture that it's lost all meaning.
