Indeed there is always such a need for drama in people's lives and such an odd need to feel they are living in the "end of days" that it seems like anytime any slightly unusual or large event is happening it's the signal for the end of all. Every conflict overseas is the beginning of the end, every heavenly event signals the end, every political movement is an ominous portent of doom -- it gets a little silly after you've aged a bit and have been through a half dozen of these supposed "signs of the apocalypse" and nothing ever comes of it.
