Is it ok to drink beer through a straw?

I went to a bar and a girl ordered me a drink but I requested a straw so its easier to swallow (its pretty bitter). The girl was looking at me weird all I said was its a lot easier to drink

I don't see the point in throwing anecdotal evidence around.  But I think I can safely assume that there is at least one woman in the roughly 3.5 billion on the planet who has, at some point, consumed beer through a straw.  

You should have gotten a cider of some sort instead. 

On the plus side i reckon a straw is slightly better for your teeth.

Dear god NO. It is NEVER ok for a man to drink ANY alcoholic beverage with a straw. I take my straw out immediately when my drink is brought to me, and thats when I they just put straws in mandatory. Never ask for a straw in a beer, they dont come with them for a reason.....GTA_dude

we did it for our homecoming fair thingy. got one of those big 64 oz styrofoam cups from the gas station and filled them up with Four Loko. drank through a straw. walked around the fair, no one suspected a thing.

Quite a few girls drank beer and other alcohol from a straw, especially early in the 80s and 90s. I couldn't understand it myself, but the thought at the time was to get drunk faster.
