Is it possible to gain muscle by lifting weights and things even when you're running?

I want to become stronger this summer, and I want to start lifting and gaining muscle, but my brother told me I can't because I run.

Yes, you'll get stronger. If you want to look stronger than I suggest adjusting your diet accordingly.

Yes. As long as your diet is sufficient.

I got what you're saying. Well I run cross country in the fall, so we start training in summer. It might depend on how much I run though. I plan to start working out on Monday.

i do a general weight session and also add a bit of c.v into it by running on a tread with 3kg weights in each arm for about 20 minutes or use the rower with full resistance.

edit: i also started taking creatine and in 2 months have near significally built muscle mass and my body fat percentage is 9.76% when i last got it checked. i also go to the gym about 3 times a week and play lots of sport, mostly football.

What would a sufficient diet be?

Also my workout schedule is in my blog, so if you have any suggestions, you can comment that :)

Just don't multi-task all your exercising with eating, even like an energy bar or something.... you can die doing that.

Your running should actually compliment your muscle gain. Running can help build the muscle that can't be gained during weight exercises. What people that want to be huge don't understand is you can't just lift weights, you need to work on all muscle groups that can't be improved during weight exercise, running can help with this. Also running will be good because it will make your legs look in porportion with your new huge muscles! Nothing worse than a muscly dude with tiny legs lol.

I don't really get what you're saying :P

Like do you mean that I shouldn't cut down on food?

Or are you saying I should watch what I eat?

Please explain :)
