thank god you didn't respond eat, pray, love or I would have just about puked. this whole concept of christianity is so outdated I wish I could start a new religion based on scientific facts and logical truths while still believing in god..... oh wait its deism.

I agree 100% there. I think all of the world's religions are severely outdated and holding our society back in so many ways. We believe God acts and treats us the way we act and treat ourselves. We give God a moral system that we base off what someone said he wants us to do. I don't think God gives a damn hoot about our personal little lives (not to say he doesn't love us as one of his many creations). We are just tiny cogs in a VERY HUGE machine, that needs every little cog to function properly I believe.so are you christian? or what?
I am me. I believe there is a force to all existence and creation that nobody can ever understand and should accept, while not basing an entire society around someone's believed ideals. I humble myself (but do not worship) out of love, gratitude, and respect for any supreme being that is capable of producing such a beautiful Universe and I admire his work every day. I don't believe this being judges, or changes. I think God set the ball rolling on this Universe and is letting everything play out as it will. If humans are destined to be smashed into oblivion, or consumed by the sun (if we even make it that far) then that is what it is. Acceptance is a practice I'm learning slowly as I move through this crazy transient life. I know in my heart there is something bigger that none of us can understand, and society has made it's best attempt since the rise of civilization.
Now to the point of Christ. I believe a man existed thousands of years ago, that lived a humble serving existence trying nothing but to guide, love, and care for others. I believe this man performed acts that were so incomprehensible to what people knew to be 'normal' that people then deified him. I don't believe he wanted people to worship him as a God. He wanted to show them, guide them, say "Follow me, for I have found the way". Not follow my rules or my Lordship, but follow my path and find peace, joy, and love. Find connection to something that has been so very difficult for humanity to connect to since the rise of self consciousness, and the creation of mindself. I believe this God aware man was so radical to that age, that utter fear cause him to be crucified, and that this man rose from the grave and did something that people have talked about since. Beyond that, I'm agnostic since God is something we can't know, and obviously aren't mean't to know until some later point (if at all). But I will try and "Follow" Jesus and live as he lived, caring for my fellow human and trying to help the people the Universe has connected me to. Whether or not that's enough for God, who knows, but it's the best I have to offer.
