i was at school and my friend was messing with my ZIPPO out and a teacher comes by and grabs it out of his hand. Im like... wtf? And she takes it to the deans office. My friend goes to the deans office and trys to get it back, but he asks if its his and he told him it was mine (why he mentioned my name.. is beyond me). So now im kinda screwed.

I flipped through our school manual and it doesnt say anything about bring lighters to school, but then another friend told me it was illegal to carry lighters around if ur under 18. I had no idea about this, or is it even true?

So i'm kinda scared to get my lighter back now, cuz I really cant rist another suspension...

What do u guys think i shuld do?

Thanks

I don't think any area would have a law that stupid.

Since your school handbook doesn't say anything about it there's not much they can do to you.

It isn't illegal to carry a lighter if you're under 18, atleast not that I am aware. But, it's common sense not to get caught with a lighter at school...

They can take them away if you're at school, but they never do, especially at mine cause 90% of the school smokes.

I doubt it's illegal. Not every Boy scout remembers how to develop a fire without it.

Since it wasnt stated in our school manual. Do you think it would be a good idea to try and get my lighter back? Maybe I could argue since it wasnt stated in the manual, I should not be punished?

haha, any suggestions would be appreciated

It's not illegal to carry a lighter, but it might not be permitted at your school. Two totally different things.

I mesn, really. Go to the store and buy just a lighter. Do they ask you for your ID? No. That's because they don't give a **** if you buy the lighter. And the only reason that they don't give a **** is because the law isn't going to bust their asses for selling it to you.

No, its not illegal, but some schools are picky about it. Towards the end of grade 12 a friend was just sitting there flicking his lighter on and off and he got sent down to the office cause the principal feared he might "Burn the place down".

No, schools like to freak out about stuff like that... lighters, nail clippers, Swiss Army knives, grenades etc. etc.

try to get it back. no where was it stated that you cannot have a lighter at school so they have no room to punish you at all. i can't believe your school is freaking out about lighters.
