I recently shot and killed a little bird with my BB gun, something I haven't done for years. It was kind of just a spur of the moment deal. I saw the bird, saw my gun, next thing you know, it was dead. Then I felt real guilty about it so I buried it in my backyard, only to have my dog dig it up the next day, then I re-buried it. I don't think I'll ever kill a little chirp again. Do you think it's morally wrong?

No, but it might be illegal depending on if it was a songbird and what type it was.

I wouldn't say morally wrong, but it was kind of mean. You could have at least eaten it, you know, put it to use. Maybe taken the BB out and fed the dog.

Depends on the person's morals. I thinking killing for no reason of any animal is a waste and wrong but I don't judge harshly over such things.

Perfect example of how this cycle starts my friend, first a bird and you feel guilty and post it on geekspot. Next it is the neighbors cat, then the dog from across the street, eventually you will need to talk to the mafia to get a human to hunt for sport. Havent you read that book, I think it was called "The most dangerous game", anyway you must seek counsiling asap. Before you hunt humans for sport. Thats all, Oh, and if the bird was annoying to you you can disregard this post. See ya!

p.s. it's just a bird, I'm sure all of it's babies are feeding themselves fine, you know with no way to fly and all. BIRD KILLER!

Yes I do think it is morally wrong you shouldn't kill small animals like that but the fact that you feel bad about it and buried it means you feel bad about it so you should forgive yourself just dont do something like that again.

I consider it wrong, mainly because it's a waste of an animal if you didn't kill it for food or any good reason.

It's only morally wrong if you let it be.

I shoot turkeys with a .223 AR-15 during the fall, and I gut it and take it home and serve it for dinner. I don't see a problem with it, so I don't see any problem with shooting a grackle with a BB gun.

The fact that this thread was started kinda shows that you think it was wrong and are looking for some kind of validation/forgiveness. Not preaching here, but that is a normal human reaction to things like this.

I know this sounds dumb, but I feel the same way about birds and animals as you. But for that split second when I saw my gun and the bird, I wasn't even thinking, I just did it. It's like those people that you hear about who would never ever think of committing suicide and then they go for a tour on the Golden Gate Bridge and out of nowhere they decide to jump off. Sometimes humans just do things out of the blue. I don't know why I shot the bird.

Waste of a shot if the bird is just sitting there minding its own business.

If it's a magpie or another pest bird, then killing (only if it swoops dangerously) helps get rid of the possible annoyance.

I think its horrible people killing stuff for fun, what if suddenly giants ruled the world and we were just tiny things, and someone saw you and decided to step on you, killing you, just for fun.

Well, i dont know. It could be wrong since the bird didnt do anything to you. It could be right, wait. Would it be the same if the bird has a bb gun and kills you.
