So I have been hearing a lot of people talking about how milk is unhealthy if you drink it once you become older and stuff like that. I ussally have some in my milk and maybe a glass at night...is that bad for me??? How much is to much because I have a friend who drinks more milk then he does water...

All dairy is pretty high in fat so it ain't brilliant for you but it isn't gonna cause an instant heart attack either, as always everything in moderation.

She's an adult dog. She drinks milk. Your statement is simply incorrect.

If you give a dog a water bowl filled with milk, he is obviously going to drink it, it isn't like he is going to flip the bowl over and demand for water. But dogs don't take milk from their mom after becoming adults.

My cat does too, but the lactose free stuff made for cats.

Anyway... there are as many cons to pros on drinking milk. Personally I only have use milk in my tea and coffee, but unfortunately I have recently developed an intolerance to lactose so I can't use regular milk in anything more than that or it causes me to feel sick. In that way milk is bad for me... unless I get the lactose free stuff, but then I pretty much will be drinking the same stuff I get for my cat.

It depends on whether or not you have evolved the ability to tolerate lactose. Okinawans for instance have no dairy in their diet, and haven't ever had it... and they live to be super-centarians on a regular basis. However, those of us who depend on dairy for calcium, would not be recommended to stop drinking it.

I can't really say if it's in any way bad for you or not, but I'll still be occasionally drinking the stuff like water.

Milk itself simply provides nutrients that you COULD get elsewhere, but also could get from it. There is nothing 'bad' about milk. If you drink whole milk, the only danger is becoming a bit pudgy because it has a high fat content. But other than that, there is nothing bad or unhealthy about it, just somewhat unnatural.

The fat in milk is useless for adults. Technically adults shouldn't drink anything besides fatfree.

I drink milk and it makes me feel good. I think it largely depends where your milk is from. Some companies use growth hormones so their cows produce more milk. Probably water is the only healthy thing to drink as it's one of very few drinks that isn't half sugar.

You're picking on that wording? She was pretty spot on, in regards to why adult should drink milk.

Most ethnicities have trouble drinking cow milk (they don't produce enough lactase to break down the lactose). Descendants of Northern Europeans have been drinking cow milk for so long we've adapted.

So I guess the answer depends upon your genetic ethnicity.

Of course milk is good for you. Some are scared of calcium stones, but that is more of your body not digesting and distributing right than milk being bad. Don't be scared to have a glass a day, that's for sure, makes your bones strong!

It can cause some digestion issues in adults, generally you dont need much or any at all as an adult. I used to chug the stuff as a kid, but as I got older it started to disagree with me at an icnreasing rate. If it's flavored milk it won't bother me.

Well, actually, they believe the reason girls in particular are developing so early now is due to milk (IGF-1 (Insulin-like growth factor 1) molecule is the main suspect).

Milk, being what it is, is full of growth hormones. Great for an infant (or calf), but maybe not so great for a pre-teen.

You shouldn't be giving that dog milk unless you bought "milk" that is specially made for dogs. Dogs usually drink water, not milk.

To some degree, but not so much as girls. Girls usually start puberty before boys anyway, this just exacerbates the issue.

I think it's the interplay between IGF-1 and estrogen that does the most damage, so yeah mostly girls.

Milk is nasty! A calf will only consume a sow's milk up until a point after which it actually is toxic to a calf and detrimental to a calf's growth and development. Visit www.notmilk.com Humans drinking another animals milk is just gross even when the milk hasn't been contaminated by other things such as rocket fuel additives which have been found in samples from store bought milk from numerous different states.
