Okay so yesterday was my drivers test. I had prepared for this day for a long time. I worked fast and hard at that repetivie tedious driving school and I was constantly nagging them to get driving hours so I can get my license yesterday on the 28th. My dad got me a truck that wasn't working. I bought the parts that it needed and fixed it myself with very little help. I worked hard to get what I wanted. So for my test I was using my moms car. The driving instructor came up to me and noticed the left brake light just went out right there on the spot! So I had no test. My mom, dad, sister, brother in law and even uncle does not have a vehicle I can use for my drivers test! I have to wait till one of them fixes their car or gets a new one. I can't use my truck because it is not insured. All that hard work was just shot dead instantly for nothing! Is my anger and depression justified? Or am I just being a cry baby about it?

You are justified, if it is any consolation I failed Drivers Ed more than once.

As long as being pissed and depressed is not your last and final reaction. Sure it sucks. Be pissed for a while then put a plan together to get what you want. Fix the brake light. Its not that difficult. The guys at your local auto parts store can probably help you get the right bulb and even show you how, if you don't already know. Obstacles only make you stronger and smarter in the long run.

That's disappointment. Get yourself insurance and try to stop depending so heavily on other people, least ones you know you can't fully rely on. ;p

The government? No, the company that you take driving lessons from supplies the car here. In fact you don't have much a choice.

I was joking anyways but yeah there are specific companies you can learn to drive from but most do it at the DMV and when you do that you have to bring your own car.

Wouldn't worry too much about that. I doubt it would keep you from being able to use the car for the test as long as the car is running OK. A check engine light can come on due to petty stuff like a loose gas cap.

Ah right. Might be completely different then, but here you basically have to go through a company that teaches you driving (costs a lot of money too).

I may be missing something, but if you had the money to order parts in- why didn't you rent a car for a day? Why don't you now?

For me, when things like this happen and upset me, it starts a chain reaction. I start thinking of other issues I have, and ultimately lowers my self-esteem to the point where I'm depressed. Then, I just let it all out some how. Punch the **** out of soemthing. Cry. Scream. Do whatever. Might sound pathetic, but it works. :P

Word of advise, use a new car next time. Just trust me on this one, a new reliable car goes a long way in helping you pass your test.

ToastRider11
If you can fix up a truck then changing a light bulb should be extremely easy to change, it only takes a screwdriver and $3 - $40 depending on what you drive. (Yeah $40, some cars have expensive lights but you usually get two and that is usually for headlights.) What are you going to drive if your truck isn't insured? I don't get why you need the licence right now if you have nothing to drive, what is there to be depressed about. You have to wait until someone fixes their car or buys a new one? Why would they buy a new car!? You are clearly capable of fixing up cars if you fixed up a truck. Im sensing holes in this story...

Just go and get a replacement bulb for the tail light, probably costs about $5. Then take your test.

...? Whats so hilarious about that? This happens quite frequently outside the US as well. I know many places in the UK do not provide you with a car, the D.O.E. being one of them. So what is funny about this?

I don't think that's anything to be depressed about, mabey a little frustrated but not depressed. If someone in your family died or something catastrophic like that then you would have a reason to be depressed.

This sounds like something a kid would be upset about, I recommend you go volunteer somewhere or learn about 3rd world countries, your problems arn't even close to those of others.

Angry yes depressed no. Just pay for someone who has a license to get a rental for 1 day and use it to take the test... unless that's not legal?

When I went to take my drivers test there was a guy that slept overnight at the DMV to be first in line the next morning. His tail light was out too and couldn't take the test either. What a waste of time.
