She was right to care, but i think she went about it the wrong way. The smart thing to do would have been to taken them aside either after class or during and talk to them. Not humiliate them and drag the whole class into the situation.

I don't completely agree with that statement. People who cut themselves to be cool are stupid. I suppose so. I just don't see the point in self-mutilation. Obviously some people have some pretty serious issues, but the one's doing it to "fit in" or "be cool" are much worse.
