I have like $1200 saved up for las vegas, is it really that good and worth to visit?

My friend, that honor belongs to San Diego, as far as best place in the US.
But as far as Las Vegas goes, if your looking for a lot of entertainment in a walkable area, you'd be hard pressed to find better.
Edit: I'd also like to add that if you want to see some awesome basketball in a very electric atmosphere go to a Runnin' Rebel basketball game when they play BYU.
Nevada would be boring for a city dweller. That said, I grew up in northern Nevada and loved it there.
Las Vegas? Meh. Consider it an extension of Los Angeles. I used to like Las Vegas back in the 70's when it still used to be a friendly place. Now, the place is just like many gangbanger-infested cities.
One thing great about Nevada are elections. One of the choices in the ballot is, "None of the above".

No, Oregon.

Oregon has neither casinos on every block or prostitutes...Legal prostitutes. Nevada wins.

Oregon doesn't even let you pump your own gas.

Cars don't burn fossil fuels in Oregon, they have special engine thats use granola as fuel. Some higher end cars need premium granola, but it's just organic.[QUOTE="jun_aka_pekto"]

That's why you can vote for Zombie Reagan here.
That's fine. Personally, I rather vote for a prostitute. I think one of them actually got elected mayor somewhere in NV.
I love Nevada. It's a nice mix of debauchery (hookers, gambling, speeding) and religion (Mormons, Protestants, Catholics) plus the Native Americans and Canadians*.
*One common phrase up north is, "We're being invaded by Canadians". There's a good number of farmers in northern Nevada who came from Canada.

I think that's right. A very well-known prostitute.
1200 won't get you anywhere in vegas. Try 150,000. And there are better places that you won't go broke at. Myrtle Beach, SC. New Orleans during Mardi gras. Hawaii or Alaska. The list goes on.I have like $1200 saved up for las vegas, is it really that good and worth to visit?

I think the topic title is misleading...are we talking about Nevada as a whole, or Vegas?
$1200 isn't that much by Vegas standards. I imagine you will be staying at Circus Circus or (gulp) the Stratosphere with that kind of money. Save your change, double your money, and stay somewhere further south on the strip. Or, stay off the strip, whatever you prefer. It is possible to do Vegas on a budget, but I don't think it's as fun, and really, why are you going if you're not prepared to open your wallet. Be prepared to spend money like it's going out of style...
Last time I passed through Vegas I was bored as hell. I dislike gambling, and didn't feel like paying for some crappy show. The most fun I had was watching drunken people on the strip make fools of themselves.
It's just like any other city, only more commercialized, with less culture, and hot and dry as hell during the summer.

Vegas is not for you LOLif you love prostitutes.....and who doesn't?!Omni-SlashActually prostitution is illegal inside the city limits of Las Vegas. In many other cities and counties in Nevada it isn't.
Not if you think the entire state of Nevada is Las Vegas. Vegasis is amagnet for seedy crap. Vegas is full of idiots that blow their life's saving on expensivejunk just so they can pretend they are thefictional representation of atycoon or playboy for a week or two. You see all of the gambling and think lone sharking, bookies and mafia. You see all of the prostitutes and porn stars and think.. AIDS.
Vegas preys on suckers. My mother let her BS mafioso wannabe friends suck her dry through loans. AND some of their friends who worked at the banks helpedher take fraudulent loans AND put fraudulent leans against my dad'shouse. Luckyforhim it's all on her and lucky for hershe's deceased anyway. As usual it was swept under the rug.
I know a lot of people that go to Vegas and ALL ofthem seem to have a gambling problem AND don't think taking money from a loan shark or getting loans from banks via fraud is aproblem. I know people whom may not be part of the mafia but their businesses seem to be fronts for someform of organized crime. Nobody finds it a little bizarre that the people who hang out at these restaurants and bars end up with injuries you don't getby falling down. Somebody loaned them money, but they didn't pay back so I'm suresomeone broke their fingers and wrists. They didn't do it by falling.
Half of the constables have gambling problems andowe money to loan sharks. The government doesn't care because as long as the seedy junk is kept behind closed doors they don't care as long as they get their cut (their taxes)
Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't go near vegas without a mini Uzi and a hazmat suit.

Nevada is great. We've got prostitutes.

I don't live anywhere near Vegas. I know it's not legal in the actual city, so I guess, right outside of the cities...I don't know what people do, actually.

It's illegal in Washoe county and Clark County. Both of these counties hold the two most populous cities in Nevada with Reno in Washoe and Las Vegas in Clark. Outside of the strip LV is a regular city, it just has more churches. ironic, eh.
