Just kidding.

I got 20 minutes into the first DVD (chest & back) until I almost puked. Got 3 minutes into the "Ab Ripper" DVD and found myself cuddling my cat on the floor after heaving for 2 minutes.

Has anyone else tried these?

This is a first for me.

I did P90x last year from start to finish. I will just say it is the best work out ever, and i had an incredible body. I highly recommend it for those wanting serious results.

ive seen the ads and it looks insane

i was interested cuz im thinking about joining the military and thought it would be a good way to start before basic training

but judging from the ads u need way more than just the vids (tons of weight training equipment which i dont have)

i could be wrong, would u mind clarifying this TC?

Tried it, im not that great of a physical dude, for instance, I hate running, tho I would do any kind of exercise and finish them well.. But P90x, i passed out at the end. Though im planning to do it this summer to lose some pounds, hopefully get back to my original shape when I was still playing football earlier in my HS life.

I have it, but haven't used it. I don't think I'll be trying the ab ripper, it just sounds like it would induce heavy vomiting.

You honestly don't need that much. I assumed that you'd need a lot of stuff too, but a pair of light weight barbells (or heavy, depending on what you want) and a pull-up bar will do the trick.

true but the thing is basically just a plyometrics/cardio perversion as far as i can tell.

you are better off doing plyometrics and cardio separately than trying to turn them into a single workout.

They've got work out programs online. Plyometrics and cardio are separate work out discs on separate days.

ugh, dont give anymore money to these damn workout profiteers.

these are called burpees, and it is a fantastic plyometric workout used by professional MMA fighters that works the entire body... you can do this single exercise daily and get everything p90x will give you. Then just add in some speed walking, light jogging, or running for your cardio.

EDIT: well maybe you shouldnt do burpees daily at first... as a general rule of thumb if you are sore or feeling weak and cant perform as well as your previous workout, you need more recovery time.

If your workout is intense and constant enough, you don't even NEED to do any straight cardio, unless your training for a marathon that is. I haven't tried P90X, though I have it. My GF and I also got the Insanity workouts from Beachbody and they are HARD to do rep for rep for me. Mind you I am soft and overweight.

My recommendation to you, if P90X is kicking your butt, is to just ease up on the reps. Pace yourself to what you can handle, pushing yourself the whole way of course, don't give yourself a heart attack because some extremely fit guy can do it. Oh, and pause is your best friend when you feel like your literally dying ...

Well I was in good shape before, so that helped but even so it was INCREDIBLE hard. People who dont have p90 assume that its just any other work out but its not. Its really totaly different and its incredible how fast you see results no matter how fit you are.

My number recommendation is Pace yourself! Don't expect to keep up with him or the other "models", I mean they are incredible fit yet they even get tired. Its up to you to slowly push yourself with every video. My other tip is EAT right. His nutritional guideline is spot on, and tells you everything you need for the workout. Just remember to pace yourself and keep good form. Don't do all the reps and have a sloppy form, you wont get the proper results that way.

And Ab Ripper X is awesome, ha ha

Hmm.. all right thanks, so lets say the whole video is an hour, but with all the pause and all that, took me 1 hour and 45 minutes. Will I still able to get the same results?

Well that depends how fit you are. You know how he makes you take that fitness test? Be true and honest with yourself, and if you can't do that fitness test with a good score then work out a bit and come back. I honestly think 45 minutes of extra break is a very long time. It easily means your not "ready" but don't give up. Do his fitness test workout for 2-3 weeks and you should be ready for p90x for sure.

plateau is a term used by bodybuilders... in terms of limited muscle growth associated with weightlifitng... anytime you do low weight lifts like plyometrics and p90x... you are going to plateau REALLY early.

gonna be hard pressed to find even an amatuer bodybuilder that does p90x...

i wouldnt worry about plateauing if your goal is simply to get in better shape.... worry about that when you are on the bodybuilding circuit.

Yes. Parts were very hard for me (yoga). Other parts not that hard for me (chest, arms, abs) But it is a great system nonetheless for getting ripped. I am looking for something a little different in my workouts though -so I did it and just incorporate pieces I like into other workouts
