Yeah, you're right...I don't know why I thought that was old (maybe because it is for most events, I dunno). That said, his body could still break down from all the events he's competed in.

Honestly, is Phelps even the most famous person in this year's Olympics? Kobe Bryant was mobbed by people walking through the crowd when he just wanted to watch the women's basketball game...so he's obviously very famous over in China (where his jersey is the #1 selling jersey, ahead of even Yao Ming), everyone in the US knows who he is, and I'm sure there are many people in Europe who know who he is.

Charles Darwin, Jesus, Mother Teresa, Michael Jackson, Einstein, Ghandi, and on and on. In the sports world yes, but everywhere else he will begin to fade after a few months.
