Is piercing baby girls' ears cruel? Also, let's talk plastic surgery...

You're making the choice for her. There's a strong possibility that she will upgrade to heavier jewelry that stretches the holes.

I'm opposed to all body modification, except for repair following serious injury and severe birth defects. Almost no one is ugly enough for plastic surgery. It makes more people weirder looking than it improves. Rampant in East and Southeast Asia. I think the Japanese might be the only ones there not obsessed with it, the only ones who don't want to look like generic plastic dolls.

Not a fan of plastic surgery. I was watching That 90s Show and Donna looked scary. Helen Hunt is another one that always comes to mind. I forget what movie I was watching but I didn't know it was her until at least halfway through the film. I'm all for piercings though. I don't have any and don't plan on it but I find it hot on the ladies.

Edit: As far as piercing baby's ears, I don't have any strong feelings for or against. I don't have any kids but if I did, I'd let them get their ears pierced but I would wait until they wanted or asked for them. I do think it's weird how some people get their baby's ears pierced but I'm not against it or anything. I don't think it's cruel.

Forgot to say, the twinkly on a woman's ears does nothing for me. It's whatever. But the all too common droop from having worn heavier jewelry is ugly.

I am a "less is more" kind of person, so I don't really believe in jewelry and stuff (surprisingly, however, I love love love tattoos...go figure). With that said, a baby doesn't really have a choice in the matter, and I honestly have to question at that point whether the man wants the child as a child, or the child as an accessory to make them look like a fashionable mom lol. I think when the kid can make their own choices it might be nice for them to go with their mom or maybe their friends and get their ears pierced together.

But then again we hack at the dicks of baby boys, so who am I to say we can't pierce a baby's ear?

As for plastic surgery, it really depends on the context. A lot of people's connotations of plastic or cosmetic surgery is lip fillers, face lifts, boob jobs, and really crazy stuff where you see a celebrity and think "oh damn he/she really ruined themselves". Basically Mickey Rourke or Meg Ryan.

But a lot of cosmetic surgery can do a lot of good. Many women, after having a couple kids, tend to get tummy tucks to give themselves back a body they can be proud of and show off at the beach. Some people as they age get really saggy eyelids (among other things) and need cosmetic surgery to cut off some skin from their eyelids so they don't have to walk around looking bug-eyed in order to see.

So, as with most things, there's some good and some bad. You can't ask me or anyone to really pick one or the other, you're just generalizing at that point.

Is that still common in the U.S? We don't do that here in the UK. Western Europe doesn't do it much either.

I don't like to see little girls with ears pieced. If girls aged 10 or more want it done, that's fine. But this should be the child's choice, not the parents.

The Tummy tuck is fine and so is surgery to cover up/correct something, but I can't understand why anyone would want bigger lips or a bigger bottom/arse/ass/backside

Also, I don't like the surgery people have to try to defy the aging process. Sure, it might work at first, but generally they look worse not better over time.

My niece had her ears pierce when she was 2 years old. Only thing about her getting ears pierced was the earrings would fall out. Plus when she would take a shower at our house, I would always find earrings in the shower when cleaning it. As she got older like 7 years old(now 9), she eventually

didn't want any earrings. She looks better without the earrings though now that's she becoming a preteen and eventually teenager it's really her choice.

Sadly, it is.

Parents have gone from the "it's tradition" to the "it's more sanitary" when challenged on it. I guess people like clutching to barbaric traditions than simply accepting it's not necessary. Like daily showers aren't a thing here 🙄

I know my parents were essentially bullied into it by their doctor, I think the line was "You don't have to do it, but someday your son will be in the gym showers with other kids or meet a girl who doesn't know what it looks like" lol.

I'm not like an activist about it, but I am a hard "no" on the "should we circumcise boys" question.

"It's a Doberman, let it have its ears!"

I went to the hospital to have an infection in my scrotum cut out. Doctor asked mother if she also wanted me circumcised, for hygiene. Apparently, it wasn't necessary. I don't think the infection in my scrotum had anything to do with my dick. I'm the only one of her sons to be circumcised. Upsetting. I never got to know true pleasure.

Generally not a fan of seeing babies w/ pierced ears as the child didn't have the choice. Left it up to my daughter whether or not she wanted it done. She was super excited to have it done at age 7. Her being excited and wanting it made initial care for it easier because it was her choice.

Wouldn't call it "cruelty" but I'm not going to pierce my baby daughters ears. Once she gets to the age of asking for it her self maybe. My sister had hers done when she was like 7.

Im against plastic surgery unless it's a major deformity

Easier to keep clean, no dick cheese, last longer in bed, being circumcised is cool

@sargentd: Meh. After lifelong celibacy and like 15 percent sensitivity at the tip, I last so long that the woman becomes sore and I have to use my hand to finish. "Oh my god!" she exclaimed when I went to pee after well over an hour at it.

Her point of view:

Also, why do you care so much more about her pleasure that you're willing to give up almost all sensitivity with a circumcision or do that to your son? I'm sorry, but that's kind of pathetic.

I give head.

Survival of the species is determined by the man's orgasm. The woman doesn't need to for procreation.

I can't without using my hand. Again, I stay hard so long that the woman gets sore. Hours. My brain is more used to my hand and I have so little sensitivity.

I feel like there are a lot of behaviours which made sense in the past that aren't necessary anymore. Most people have showers and soap and things now, which is probably one of the reasons circumcision is becoming less popular. I'd never do it to my kids. Let them decide later, if they really see a reason to have it done.

With that out the way, I'm generally not a fan of plastic surgery at all. The before pictures usually look better. A lot of women (and also guys now) get hung up on a specific appearance they've got in their heads, to the point they'll blot out the reality of how others actually see them. It might sound horrible, but that's the first thing that comes to my mind when I see a plastic surgery victim - their complexes and how controlled they are by their insecurities. It's a massive turn off for me personally.

No reason why a baby or kid should have pierced earrings. Just get some clip on or something.

Plastic surgery depends. Weight loss surgery is fine, as is a tummy tuck. I'm of the mind that you don't need a BBL, unless your ass is just so small that it's inverted. I don't have a butt as big as my mom and my sister's, but I think my butt is sexy. It's still round and kind of plump. I like it. My cousin is in the same boat as me, but she got a BBL and it looks stupid. She had a sort of big butt, as big as mine, but I guess she was insecure because some kids in the neighborhood told her that her butt wasn't as big as her mom's. Plus, her stomach was big. We told her that she just needed a tummy tuck or something that would make her tummy small.

You could say the same about boobs... My thing is, I have the same logic. I don't think people should have surgery on their lips or nose or whatever. Be proud of your thin lips. Lord knows I had to learn to love my wide nose and big lips, back when people only liked the big lips on Angelina Jolie and would mock black folks for having them.

I'm of the same logic for boobs and a butt. Unless you're just severely flat or something, you don't need it. If you're smaller than the larger side of an A cup, I can see a boob job. If your butt is so flat that it's practically inverted, I can see a BBL.

Personally, I oppose body modifications, including tattoos, except for medical reasons. Most plastic surgeries make people look unnatural rather than improving their appearance. This trend is widespread in East and Southeast Asia, except in Japan, where people seem less obsessed with looking like plastic dolls. Usually, I follow tattoogaze for tattoo related advise.

I'm not a fan of plastic surgery or tattoos either. I prefer a more natural look.

Ironically, that Asian "plastic doll" look was influenced by Japanese kawaii culture. Yet plastic surgery is nowhere as common in Japan itself.
