If you're filling it, it's half full, if you're emptying/drinking it it's half empty, that's how i see it.

Cat must have drinked some of it so now it's half empty. If he didn't bother it and was just pour, it's half full.....

Depends. Was the liquid just poured into the glass? Then it is half full. If the glass was drunk untill it was at half, it is half empty.

For something to be half empty it has to have been completely full at some point. Otherwise its just half full.

If it is below 50% capacity, between 1% and 30-35% then it is half empty.

If it is over 50% capacity, between 65-70% and 99% then it is half full.
