The Village wasn't that bad. I'd say average at best.

But I haven't seen The Happening. I promised my friend I'd go with them, but now I'm not sure if I should go or not.

I liked the movie up until the last 20 or so minutes.

The ending and explanation was just lame, tree life's version of the Red Tide... I was waiting for aliens or something.

I liked it a lot better than The Village. Dear God, that was far worse than this one.

I thought it was terrible, but funny at times (even though it wasn't meant to be funny): not only was the story not so hot, but the acting really killed it for me -- it's as though that woman was only told to open her eyes and look like a retard

I saw it yesterday. We had a laugh, but only because the only people there were me and a group of mates so we were just laughing at how awful it was. The guys acting is just awful. Like, even towards the end of the movie hes like "Something strange is happening?!" and his voice goes up at the end of nearly every sentence he says in the movie.

He really ought to make a movie where the big twist of the plot is actually the lack of a twist. That'd be a major WTF for me, no doubt.

I don't know, I loved The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and even liked The Village, but Lady in the Water was unbearable and this one is getting panned, I won't pay to see it for sure.

M. Night seems to have declined in quality, ever since The Village, and all its predictable mediocrity. Not sure about Unbreakable, but The Sixth Sense and Signs were pretty good.

The Happening is the worst reviewed movie of the year so far with 23% on the Rotten meter, and 13% on the Top Critic meter. Seriously, is it that bad?

Then that means M. Night S has made three bad movies in a row: The Village, Lady in the Water, and The Happening.

Has M. Night S lost it? I think he's running out of ideas and trying too hard now.

What was wrong with The Village and Lady In the Water.

The Village got a bit boring, but it was extremely interesting.

Lady in the Water was freaking awesome; every single one of those characters was memorable, and the storyline was essentially just a fairy tale. It was great!

M. Night said that he gets all of his ideas from nightmares and stories that he tells to his kids. He mixes the ideas together and creates a story. That's what I heard atleast, I don't know the truth to that. Anyway, I liked Sixth Sense and Unbreakable very much, Signs was not bad, I enjoyed it, The Villiage was an average movie. Lady in the Water is where it went downhill for me, haven't seen "The Happening" yet, but I hear it's horrible. I usually trust the reviews on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes....

Maybe I should have said, the worst reviewed anticipated movie from a big name director and actors.

The movie was pretty bad. I laughed so hard when the kid got shot though, just a barrel of a shotgun sticks out the dark doorway "DONT LET THE GAAAASSSS INNN!!!" *BOOM*. The way he said it was hillarious.

He had it with the Sixth Sense. That movie was great.

Signs was ruined by the ending, but he still had potential at that point. He keeps putting out crap though and I am wondering how much more crap he is going to put out....

You should still check out the Sixth Sense. That is such a great movie and no it doesn't totally revolve around the twist. It is sad seeing that movie and seeing all the crap Shamalayn has put out since. He could have been one hell of a director....

I saw the movie but I didn't "pay" for it if you get what I mean. It was decent. It had a creepy atmosphere and that's about all it had going for it. Mark Wahlberg was terrible in it, he didn't even TRY to act. The big reveal was just stupid and didn't even make sense.

Bad dialogue. "Ohhhh cheese and Crackers!" lmao. That one had the theater going. Bad acting. I honestly thought wahlberg would so much better than that. Zooey shouldn't even be an actress. However I still kind of enjoyed it lol. Maybe it's because I don't pay for movies. This could have been a great one. What really sucks is that Shyamalan wrote the screenplay with wahlberg specifically in mind for the lead role according to imdb.

Yes, it was really that bad; I wish I had not gone. The sad/funny thing is that my local "free paper" (The Boise Weekly) is so liberal that it gave the movie 3.5 popcorns (of 4), citing important social continuums and a message for a green earth that was poignant and not shoved in your face. I wonder if he actually watched the movie...

The Sixth Sense is a terrific film, but this guy is like a one trick pony.

The village is an awful film and epitomises what is wrong with this guys films: "Stars" given little material to work with, poor and improbable stories and little to no scares.

Signs was okay until you saw 'it' and also the ending was bad.

This coming from someone who considers Lady in the Water a legitimately good movie.

I've read that EVERYONE was horrible in that movie.

Don't know if that's true or not, since I'll be damned if I support this film. But if it's true that EVERYONE is horrible in this movie, I'd be more inclined to blame that on the director. Especially considering that some of these people were nominated for Oscars in previous films.

Everyone is horrible. Zooey basically does big teary eyes in every goddamn scene.

But the two best horrible performances come from Mark Wahlberg (who had the theater howling with nearly every line) and whoever played the crazy old hag Mrs. Jones (which kept reminding me of that song). Special mentions go to the dude who liked hot dogs and the possibly-gay army guy.
