People make out the United States as some kind of promised land and so much better to live here than any where else. I can understand to rather live here than lets say, a poor country in Africa or Middle Eastern Country, but to say that it is better than China , Canada, or Japan or any other developed country is kind of pushing it. If it is so much better here, than why do other countries have so many people there? Also there is so much crime and obesity and other problems here in the US that makes living someplace else not so bad. Not to mention the HORRIBLE education in the US.

I just see the US falling or having less influence  in this world in the Future or not being a leading superpower.

BTW i am a born US citizen (Vietnamese-American).

It has its pros and cons just like any other country, and because the states have their own issues to deal with, some have more problems than others (for example, Detroit, Michigan is a shithole but Northern Virginia is paradise) and this is true for countries with their own states, provinces, or whatever.

I think you're exaggerating our problems: We're not crime-ridden or dumb.

It has some of the highest living standards in the world (definitely better than Japan, let alone China) but whether it's the "best" is really a matter of personal taste.

Unless you're A.) A Muslim and/or B.) want to move to Israel (unless you're a Muslim that's okay with living in Israel), you're an idiot. Yes the Middle-Eastern countries aren't as poor as we might think they are but they are still shitholes for major human rights violations, disparity between the rich and poor, as well as religious law that you'll have to deal with.

The only country I would ever move to in the Middle East is Israel. They're the most tolerant and democratic in the Middle East.

We have a high standard of living, high access to technology, some social service, high public freedom, high security from outside attack, friendly neighboring countries, a wide demographic of different cultures, fantastic nature preserves, access to almost any consumer good we want, and medium-low taxes. Despite all the craziness, it's still a pretty groovy place. "Best" depends on what you value the most.

Meh. There are many other countries that have higher average standard of living, lower crime, and lower income inequality. And we're too automobile dependent. We obviously have a horrible parliamentary process. On the other hand, we have some great National Parks and a wide variety of geography that we can travel to without crossing borders. "Best" is pretty subjective.

My mistake. I completely forgot about those countries and yes, they do seem like desirable places to live, but I did not forget about Turkey. I think somewhere around Istanbul would be desirable imo but otherwise I wouldn't live anywhere else in Turkey.

We're dependent on cars because the US is a very large country with lots of land and 316,000,000 people. Most people don't go to school or work a few blocks away from their home. Many Americans who live in suburbs go to school and/or work in a suburb/core city that they don't live in. This isn't tiny ass Lichtenstein with 30,000 people we're talking about. If you live in an urban area here, chances are you're gonna either need a car or a bus stop near your place, because walking is so 10,000 years ago, LOL.Â
