I keep hearing all the time 1000 troops sent 2000, 3000, 4000, they just keep sending soldiers to Iraq, but what would happen if all of the sudden we had another powerful country invading us?

Are you leading the charge?Unless Canada strikes via the underground railroads  i think you're fine.

Why yes indeed we are. The majority of our troops are not currently involved....and those that are can be easily brought back if needed.LJS9502_basicAnd don't forget the armed citizen. Half of the US citizens are armed and make an army larger than most nations.
We haven't thrown 'everything we've got' at them since WW2. Probably because WW2 was the last time we actually declared war. Everything else, even Vietnam, is a Police Action, not a 'War'. Offically.
If it were to come to 'total war', we have a nuclear curtain that I don't think anyone wants to have dropped on them.
We would glass their homeland with nukes. What would they have to go back to?I keep hearing all the time 1000 troops sent 2000, 3000, 4000, they just keep sending soldiers to Iraq, but what would happen if all of the sudden we had another powerful country invading us?

[QUOTE="FrostyPhantasm"]Are you leading the charge? Yessir, I find The Americas states to be immoral with their flashy use of movie stars and western culture, the juggalos must be cast off this continent. :PUnless Canada strikes via the underground railroads  i think you're fine.

I'd certainly say so. U.S. spending on its military exceeds most other nations on the world combined. I'll leave nukes aside for the sake of argument. The difficulty other nations would have at getting ships to transport a large scale invasion force without having all their vessels sunk is would likely keep troops from touching U.S. soil, or for that matter leaving harbor. If for the sake of argument, we didn't stop a successful beachhead, well, a large portion of our military is actually based in the U.S. (crazy, amirite???) Everyone and their brother has guns.
It absolutely is capable of defending itself. I'm not sure why anyone would question that fact right now. Bear in mind that the civilian population is heavily armed as well. We see what sort of problems can be caused by insurgency by what is happening in the middle east, and we saw what it did to Germany in World War II.
No way dude. The Russians are already over I-95! They came out of nowhere! And now Seattle is getting nuked!
Of course we could defend ourselves. The invasion force would be obliterated within a month, at most. The only country that might be capable of successfully invading us is China, and they aren't really interested in doing that...
I'd say that the only military force on earth that could roll clean over America would be the Chinese... apparently, they have more people in reserve alone - in reserve that is - than all four branches of the US military combined... scary stuff indeed...This question can't be for real. No the most powerful country in the world can't defend itself.

many nations have highly advanced and mobilized navies/airforces, saying that their not even in the same league as the US is not giving enough credit. It isnt like every other nation in the world uses technology from last generation.Wouldn't really need to defend the homeland because no one would be able to cross seas or air without being utterly destroyed. No other country in the world has a navy/air force that's even in the same league as the United States.

If that were the case why doesn't China just invade the US if nobody could stop them? The US is seperated on both sides by oceans and protected to the north by Canada. It's highly unlikely that an invasion of the US would be as easy as you're picturing it to be
I saw on The Universe that a nuclear weapon detonated in orbit can knock out a power grid the size of the US. Of course, we can always do the same to any attacking region. Though, a treaty may have banned this, I believe.CRS98no offense but if that happens treaties be damned. may not nuke the place but you know we would go all out

Its obvious that they would have more people but how much weaponry do they have? Fighter jets, subs, carriers. The sheer number of people can't compare to the sheer number of weapons we have. Then again everything is made in china so who knows what they got.

it honestly doesn't even matter, because China wouldn't be stupid enough to wage war on the Us and her allies, imagine the effects it would have on their economy alone. No, nobody can fight a conventional war against the US, let alone invade the country. Someone invading the US anytime in the near future is completely unthinkable. How would they get here? How would they sustain their army? America's military is unrivaled its capability to defend the country and project power. No one else comes close.
"Oh, but China and North Korea have big armies!"
The nominal strength of Iraq's army in 2003 was over a million men. We invaded Iraq with three divisions.

I know it wouldn't matter, I believe the US and China ever going to war with each other could basically mean the end of humanity. Just making a statement.

It'd mean the end of China. China's ability to project nuclear or conventional military power to the United States is very, very limited.

Is it? I'm not to keen on how Chinas Nuke technology is. Also how would we know exactly what there capabilities are? They have enough money and resources to run some decent programs there I would think.

The Chinese have a lot of nukes, but the US outnumbers them by a huge number.[QUOTE="kidsmelly"]
