Seems that way to me, no real hope in sight. I have almost given up on this country and see it as a waste right now. Normally I believe that the USA could rebound from anything, now it seems like we won't rebound and are falling down and won't bounce back. Those days seem to be over, may just get while the gettins good. Is the USA a lost cause, or can it come back.

If this country is good at one thing, it's exploiting others. There's a lot of money to be stolen from India and China.

Bounce back from what exactly? There are many deficits in the U.S.A., but I'm unsure of which one you're speaking of.

So are you going to actually state in your own thread what the problem is? Or just ignore the question and assume that everyone is aware of this impending doom of the nation?

until are government stops kissing companys's and go back to the people we be fine....

jobs are simple to fix. you just tell company's they are not allowed to import these goods no more. these items can be things that companys know Americans will buy. you tell them if they wish to sell their goods they need to produce it here.

computers, t.vs., cell phones, mp3s. these just somethings that all created over seas. and every American wouldn't go one day without at least one of these things

ya company's can scream and yell try get their way but in the in business is business and if they wish to make money they will go where the business is at

ok not thjat simple but you know what i mean

Of course it's not. Doesn't mean we don't have other mounting problems and stronger compeitition that didn't exist back then. Its a little broader than a simple recession.

The ignorance I see in threads like these is astounding; it's as if nobody paid attention in their history classes. The economy is cyclical; this isn't the first recession we've ever had, we've bounced back every time. People think that results are supposed to happen overnight, but it takes years.UT_Wrestler

The economy is only bad for the common people. The people at the top like the top executives have so much money they could make everyone in USA debt-free. What I'm saying is, is that USA has a few people who suck up its money and don't let go. At some point you end up in this situation, with or without economic crisis. That we have a crisis is only speeding this up. China has an unbeatable economy. No other country can compete because of their work ethics. We should just let them do their thing and not end up in their situation. Apart from that I don't see how China is a problem. Or more of a problem to USA than other countries like the UK, Russia or Japan. The infrastructure is one of USA's weakest points. But every country has things that don't work too well. In my country there is a much bigger problem. It's called the law. And the law has grown and grown so big that it has started gobbling up people, money, common sense and wisdom. And that is something you can't just fix in a few decades of time. It requires a paradigm shift.

Ask the National Socialist party. Or Stalin. They can answer all your questions.

Nazism isn't the only form of socialism, and it mainly derived the name socialism in opposition to the more speculative sides of 1920s-30s capitalism. Apart from that, they were pretty cosy with corporations within the Germanic market, as long as they'd work with the State. Like other forms of fascism in the peroid, I'd say more of a corporate structure rather than socialism - the workers were given **** and treated like ****. Stalin imposed some kinda State socialism, where the state runs everything and trading went on between bureaus, it was pretty dire. I've heard some people refer to it as a "state capitalism" but it really doesn't seem capitalistic in nature to me. Meh. Again, as with Nazism, workers were treated like **** and given **** all for their work. This pretty much would contradict how I would personally define socialism. Also, you answered none of my questions. Please do. >:

What country are you in? You are talking about our huge wealth difference, which is a problem that is starting to harm the country, this will take years to fix which we may or may not have. Like peak oil, it wont last forever and we are dependent on it. Also America's economy is rathe global, the rise of China weakens our trade position and weakens the economy due to us losing position in other nations. Their work ethic can be matched....the USA used to have it. China's size is another story.

Don't worry, I'm not a supporter of the socialism that took place in Soviet Russia, Cambodia, China and all those places. I define socialism in a rather Chomskyian manner, it's how to do with how the workplace is organized, workers control the production, management, schedule, discipline and should ideally have more weight in production direction than that of the managerial employees. Workers should have a basic pay which allows them to live in relative comfort and orders would come from bottom up, rather than top down. Basically, my definition of socialism is to do with how the workplace is organized and then operated (in a manner which places it worker-centric), rather than having the State or government handle the economic direction of the entire polity, which I see as a crap way to do most things (since workers are often treated like crap there). This definition means that a socialist free market is possible, but eh, unlikely as hell. I hope that helped.

Yet if World War III broke out tomorrow, you'd never stop complaining about it.
