Nerds are smart geeks. Not to be confused with dorks, who are geeks but with an air of false superiority.spazzx625dont forget the snerd!
half nerd,half sham
So if I like memorized the Marvel handbooks and like every issue of Thor since the 60s, and can pretty much take part in Marvel comics debates the way Barack Obama does politics... does that make me a nerd or a geek? th3warr1or
That makes you a virgin.
But in all seriousness, that makes you a geek.

[QUOTE="GazaAli"]it does not matter, both terms mean that you have little to no chance with girls.Xorital
Unless the girl is also one of those things...its especily rewarding when they are also attractive along with their sweet personalities.
ahhh that situation...nice.*pushes glass up on bridge of nose with index finger* Thank you for acknowledging that, sir.Basically: nerds are smart, geeks aren't.
Nerds are know-it-alls and book worms, whereas geeks just like Star Wars and comic books.
Now, someone can also certainly be a geek AND nerd.

The term geek has it's origin in circus sideshows. Freakshows where basically a shortened term for freaks of nature shows. People w/ physical abnormalities that would put on a show. As time past more and more shows were consisting of talent that had no physical abnormalities, but where "entertaining" none the less. Probably the most famous of which is biting the head off a live chicken. Apparently carnie folk decided they needed a distinction between these shows hence the term geek originated in popular form.
Nerd is a tougher history w/ no exact origin of how it came into pop culture, but it mostly pertains to those that pursue intellect. Nerds can pretty much come from all facets of life, and don't really pertain to being socially awkward, but often due to academic pursuits they often are.
So there you go.
Geek - bites the heads of chickens
Nerd - obsessive intellect
I would say that nerd's are more into computers where geeks are into school and books. JuggaloRandallThat's what I have always thought. Nerds are into D&D and MMOS's, (No offense to D&D and MMO fans) while geeks like to do homework and study.
Perfect. This is it exactly.Yes. Geek just means you are into some "geeky" things (Star Trek, Star Wars, etc.). Nerd is a super smart dweeb that nobody likes.

I found this image once, it works i think.
Hmm, I always understood geekiness to mean that one was obsessed with computers, video games, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, etc - whereas nerds were really good at math and science. I figured they both had intelligence, but were just knowledgeable about different things. fidosim
Can I be both? :o
I am obsessed with computers, video games, fantasy, and anime (not sci-fi though lol) and I am great at math and science.
