Because only humans have a soul (the eternal part of us) -- animals do not.

we are animals. some just like to think we're not :P

From a Christian point of view, we're not animals.

This line sound awfully familiar. I think I've heard it from a movie called planet of the apes, which one of the apes asked one of the humans if he had a soul. Then assumed that he didn't. I really hope you wouldn't view them in such a way. The way you make it seems like they're nothing but tools for us humans.....

I'm just stating a biblical fact -- that's all.

From what the Bible tells us. Obviously that is assuming the Bible is correct - but I get the impression that the TC already accepts that.

As in being able to talk and use logic to solve problems. Though some animals may already do that.

No animal has anything like human speech as a method of communication. And I don't think any animal has more than second order of intentionality, either.

How do you know that animals aren't communicating like Chinese people do; nuances in tone. There are hundreds of words built from one single character. Its all tonal. Meow could stand for like five thousand different things.

As far as I'm aware, none have the FOXP2 gene necessary for it.

Humans are not that different from animals. I don't see why animals would lack a soul.
Maybe we are better at inventing things out but hardly at understanding the things that matter (if there is a God and a doctrine etc.). We are very much governed by animal instinct. They fart, **** walk, eat, fight, sleep and die. I constantly see people overestimate our control. Look at people get angry at nothing, having sex with everything, they eat too much when they can, they betray and murder for territory or money they don't need and they all have a different idea of right and wrong. I don't see how humanity as a whole has more understanding of what is right and wrong than any animal species.
Animals can care and also show signs of free will.
I just don't see why animals would not have a soul if humans do.

What happens to animals when they die? Humans can tell between right and wrong whereas animals can not, so when they die do they just get a free pass into heaven? Because wouldn't that be a bit "unfair" so to speak, as humans have to work their way into heaven.

I've always wondered about this.

Faber_Fighter
Humans are animals too. When will people realize this? It bothers me so much that people don't realize this. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. On Topic: I have no idea and we won't know until we die.

I second this. There will be animals in heaven but that does not mean that they are animals that died while on earth.

They lack a soul because they lack a strong conscious like we have.
