Is there a way to fit lots of music on just a few cd's?

I'm tryin to get my mp3 collection over from my old laptop to my new PC. I have 90% of all the CD's they originally came form but it would take forever to import them all one by one. I was planning on burning a few cd's with my whole collection on them so I could easily transfer them all over.

Problem is, though, the blank CDs can only hold about 80 minutes of music and I'm trying to move about 15 gigs. Can you guys help me out?

If you saved the music as data you could probably fit a couple hundred songs each( well def above 100), but that's still a lot of CD's USB flash, micro sd?

Get a USB hard drive. It's the practical way.

There's also those cds which are programmed to handle tons of data and folders. Don't those exist?

Perhaps you could toss them onto a blank DVD.

I suggest you just .zip or .rar them up; it saves so much space. You can then write them to a .iso to save even MORE space.

Take your ethernet cord and hook up your laptop to your PC. Put your music on a shared folder and just drag them onto your new PC.

Definitely get a flash drive.

Also, the reason it only holds 80 minutes of music is because when you burn it, it has to convert it so normal CD players can read it, when if you just put the MP3 version on a CD, you can fit much more music on it.

Make a data disc, instead of an audio one.

Although, not all CD players can play data discs.

Get a flash drive.... Even if you just get a 4gb or 8gb drive (which will cost you under $20 easily), you can still transfer it fairly quickly. And, if you get a 16gb, 32gb, or 64gb flash drive, you can transfer it in one go :). Personally, I would get an 8gb, and wait to get a 16, 32, or 64 until they are cheaper.

the ethernet cord from your modem to your PC is not the same kind that should be used to link 2 PCs... well, yeah, but the connections are inverted, so it won't work.

if you want a music cd with a lot of songs, then make an mp3 cd. stores the songs by size of file rather than length of song. can get 250 songs on a cd

Buy a crossover cable for a couple bucks. Connect your laptop to your PC and then transfer the files over. There's really no need to use any sort of storage media to move your collection..

Note: You *must* have a crossover cable to directly connect your PC to your laptop. A standard ethernet cable won't work.

WTH? Are you for real?!

Yeah it's the same RJ45 cable. Just plug your modem cable into both your lan ports and set a connection by following your instruction in local network.

I did that a couple of times when my motherboard died... for a third times... (Gygabyte I love you  piece of trash maker)

if you are moving files , putting them on cd's wont cap out for minutes.. dont make an audio cd, make a data cd... also download winrar or winzip .. and zip your music collection... compressing them will make it a lot easier to consolidate space and move them .
