the last time that happend was with peal harbor...and look what happen to them!Solid-CELL
lol not an invasion. Closest America ever came to invasion in the modern age was when Japan conqured some Aluetian islands in WW2, and this was not considered an invasion of US soil just because Alsaka was not a state at that time...
By Canada, they will start by poisoning the maple syrup supply...chaoscougar1
It must be true :o
F**** YEAH! MURICA! not all caps mods.I don't think so. Not as long as we have rights to bear guns.

i think so. it just hasnt happened yet (i dont count pearl harbor and 9/11 those were attacks, not invasions, to me invasions mean troops have to occupy land. not just blow things up)
They occupied our land, walked into our airports, hijacked our planes, and flew them into our buildings, killing our people. I think the only country with the power to do it would be China....-Renegade
China has no navy...
Of course it is a law of history that every great empire must fall, but I can't see it happening in the near future. And I definitely think it will be by the gradualeconomic decline of the west, not by outright invasion.
As of today, no single country has the capability of invading the US successfully. When I say invade I'm talking about bringing an enemy ground force on US soil, so mentioning the 9/11 hijackers doesn't make sense since they didn't fight through the US military to do what they did, they hijacked planes full of civilians. The reason I say it's not really possible isn't American arrogance like most people will claim. The reason is sheer logistics. The US is surrounded by two friendly countries and two oceans.
If an enemy country wanted to attempt a land invasion they would either have to convince Canada and/or Mexico to allow them to use the US as a staging area (similar to how the US used Kuwait as a staging area for the invasion of Iraq) or they would have to fight their way through one of them. If a country invaded Canada so they could work their way down to the US they just pulled the entire Commonwealth into that conflict. Plus, that would be warning for the US to prepare for their arrival and evacuate certain cities.
If they want to come from the oceans they have to have a really powerful Air Force and Navy to get their troops over here. People like to claim China can invade the US. China has a large military but they just don't have the logistics to get their troops from China to the US. It's like taking 50 Soldiers and trying to take them all from Kuwait to Iraq in a Kia Rio. Trying to get millions of Chinese troops halfway across the world and then maintain a supply line for them is a very hard task.
If multiple nations decide to team up to invade the US it may work. But one single nation won't be able to do it in terms of a traditional military invasion (so the jokes talking about illegal immigrants don't apply since they're sneaking in, not rolling in using tanks). Video games like Modern Warfare 2 and Homefront make it look a lot easier than it really is because your average gamer doesn't have military experience and doesn't know how ridiculous some of their story lines are to somebody who knows how combat works.
The Cubans and Russians managed it in 1984, they just didn't count on Patrick Swaye and his band of Wolverines
Excluding Alien/Unicorn invastion...
No posibility of it in the next 40 years.(at least mainland, Hawai/Alaska gets iffy)
2 real reasons
1. Resistance would be a ****** US has had a gun loving, rebelious spirit for over 200 years. (and a population of over 300m)
2. Nukes! Lots and lots of nukes!

I'm pretty sure he's either talking about invaders not wanting to invade due to fear of the nukes, or if they invaded anyway the US using nukes on their homeland to break their supply lines and their will to continue fighting. But that's just a guess.

It's a reason why any significant nuclear power can be secure from invasion, IMO... you invade the USA, Russia, China, etc... you're going to be nuked. Kind of counterproductive as invasions go.For the foreseeable future, boats are going to have a little bit of trouble crossing those oceans -- and when/if the U.S. navy is outmatched, that still remains a problem as boats are only likely to be more easily destroyed by missiles in the future. I'm almost inclined to think that traditional navies will eventually become obsolete. In my opinion, invasion seems a rather minuscule possibility.

Imagining a russian/china alliance then even one nuke dropped by either side could mean the end of the world. I'm pretty sure that in the case of national invasion, where sovreignity is going to be lost, it's an inevitability.
