Thom Yorke is famous for being rude, but racist? I don't know, first let's take a look at some lyrics.
1: Pearly
This song goes as so.
Vanilla (feel it crawl to me) milkshakes (crawl back again)
From hard rock (whatever you say) cafes (make it go away)
That's where (I feel it crawl to me) she got her (crawl back again)
Sweet tooth (it won't go away) for white boys (whatever you say)
Notice how it says that she got her sweet tooth for white boys. Is that saying that black girls need to develop an attraction to caucasian males? So is he saying that it's not normal for whites and blacks to be together? Next.
2: Black Star
A little from the song.
I Blame it on the black star
I Blame it on the falling sky
I Blame it on the satellite that beams me home
Tonight, this is killing me
Tonight, this is killing me
So is he saying that he blames it on black people because they are going to kill him? Is this a stereotypical fear of african american domestic violence? He seems to be saying only black people kill. And could star be him referencing them being far away because he avoids them by living in Oxford? Next.
3: Black Swan
This song is the killer. The song is named after a swan being black. So is he saying that a black swan is not normal? A swan is known for it's beauty and elegance, yet he refers to the black swan in the words, "This is ****ed up, ****ed up." Could this be his way of saying black people are ****ed up? Is he saying that it's not normal for black people to be beautiful?
Not only this, but when was the last time you saw a black person at a radiohead concert? I think he avoids the african american race. As a huge radiohead fan, this is highly offensive even as a 21 year old Caucasian male. And who knows how much anti black material will be contained in the new album The King Of Limbs.
Thank you for reading.
