I don't think he read the article he quoted from. In big bold letters at the top is says "Watermelon is a fruit" as a title and goes on to explain why.

The article quoted was PDF file that lists WIki as a source. My source is http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=CILAL which confirms that the watermelon is indeed a vegetable.Frankenstein was the creator not the monster. The watermelon is a vegetable not a fruit. You can cry underwater. Any other questions?danabo
If you classify all vegetation that you plant and harvest as a vegetable then yes. But otherwise, no. A fruit by definition is the reproductive organ of a plant. That's what a watermelon is.
Why are you guys trying to confuse people?

They called it a plant many times, but not a vegetable, or a fruit for that matter.

Oh lord. Then you don't understand scientific classification. Look at this list of vegetable names: Go to http://www.hri.ac.uk/enveg/data/raw/vegdata.htm Then scroll down to Cucurbitaceae.... Family Cucurbitaceae -- Cucumber family Genus Citrullus Schrad. -- watermelon Species Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsumura & Nakai -- watermelon Variety Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsumura & Nakai var. lanatus -- watermelon[QUOTE="Shalashaska77"][QUOTE="aus_pride"]My point is that a watermelon is a vegetable, not a fruit. I don't find any vegtables that sweet and I find basically all fruits sweet. So I would go with fruit and I know I'm right. I don't know how Tomato is a fruit though. :|firestorm91Tomatos are berries technically...
