Is Will Smith best amongst all black actors ?

Will Smith is ranked as the most bankable star worldwide by Forbes. PLUS Will Smith was good at everything he did besides movies during his prime (Music,TV, Comedy).Personally i've seen most of Will movies and love em ( Didn't see From Earth for M.N Shyamalan, who i detest most as a director ).

My question to you guy is Will Smith best amongst all black actors ? or Denzel Washington or Samuel L Jackson ETC much better actor than Will ?

However many seems to criticize Will's acting capabilities also online , then how come he's most bankable star and most of his movies are blockbusters worldwide ( Or is he lucky to be in all the great movies)? :)

Will Smith doesn't act, he just plays Will Smith in every movie he's in.

I like most of his movies except Hancock but i think that's largely due to a rubbish story and its just not very funny.

I prefer Denzel Washington and my favourite is Forest Whittaker.

Also worth mentioning I AM LEGEND ( Its very difficult to pull of a lone man/ survivor acting all the way and Will did awesome justice to the role. last i remember Tom Hanks doing same in Cast Away ). I robot was meh tho Heh.

Will smith hasn't had a good movie for a long time. I think he's a good actor but once he started bringing his Son in most of his movies and in that horrible movie After Earth, he got backlash for that and Will has been under the radar for this. If he made Bad Boys 3, then he will be back to being number one. Last movie I enjoy from him was I am Legend, that movie was like watching The Last of Us for some reason.

True. I blame M Night for After Earth over Will, but its Wills fault for choosing such a horrible director for his home production lol.

I believe Will Smith is like Arnold Schwarzenegger in that his acting ability isn't great: but he has screen presence and for the most part selects roles that suits him.

As far as black actors go I think Idris Elba is great: unfortunately he's been in many shit movies.

I prefer Morrigan Freeman.

I blame Shayamalan for everything he's ever done. Don't think I've ever liked a single movie by him =P

Best black actor is Idris Elba.

Morgan Freeman is excellent. I also think Jamie Foxx has potential and I like the stuff that Samuel L Jackson does. Anthony Anderson has a great comedic style and I think that Terrence Howard could become a excellent actor. His performance in Hustle and Flow was great. Any one of these actors could pull off a performance that competes with Will Smith but overall Will Smith is a better overall actor. But he needs to not do Botox injections. It makes him look weird. Age gracefully Will.

Just because he's bankable, doesn't mean he a GREAT actor! Will is good, but not great!

He is pretty versatile, but he does better with action or comedy roles.

I think he's one the best actors there is now.

Whats the name of the one thats like the Dark Knight? I saw parts of it on netflix a while back: it pretty funny. Shot per shot, it's almost the exact same in places.

He has had maybe one or two actually good performances in his long career - but he has not done anything truly worthwhile; also box office draw has nothing to do with talent - same goes for any medium.

There are a lot of far better black male actors working right now - Chiwetel Ejiofor, Idris Elba, Anthony Mackie, David Oyelowo, Nate Parker, Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Williams, Chadwick Boseman - hell, even Common is a better actor than him.

Erm no he does not, He is a very skilled and versatile actor. He can make you laugh and make you cry and have you on the edge of your seat, not many actors can do that.

Nah, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Samuel L Jackson, Cuba Gooding Jr and Don Cheadle are all better than him.

He's good I'll give him that, but to say he's the best black actor, or among the best for that matter, is kind of a stretch. I can think of quite a few black actors that I'd prefer over him right at the top of my head. But yea he's quite good, in a very mainstream and generic way mind you. Not that there's anything wrong with that; there are both an audience and roles for his tier but If you're looking for intense and captivating acting/roles then you better look someplace else.

Personally I'd say Morgan Freeman is the epitome of black actors but there are other really good ones too.

Samuel has never made me tear up or laugh as much as Will Smith has neither has some of those other guys you mentioned.
