Meh, I barely use the desktop on Win 7 since I have all of my programs either pinned to the taskbar or I can simply find them through the start menu.
maybe next time they want to build a tablet windows they should label it as one and not try to force it in desktop pcs-
No, Windows 8 is not a failure. It's different, things have changed and people don't like change. Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP/7 all had two things in common, the Desktop and a Start Menu. With Windows 8 the Start Menu has been replaced with something new and as with all things new you have to learn how to use them. Once you get to grips with it and unpin all the apps you dont actually use and then put the ones you do in to some sort of logical order it's actually a nice operating system to use. It's just as stable as Windows 7 and XP and it starts up and shuts-down quicker too. Hyper-V in the pro/enterprise version is a great VM system too. When XP came out lots of people tried to make it look like 95 and then when Vista and 7 came out the same sort of people tried to make it look like XP and now Windows 8 has been released instead of embracing the new User Interface lots of people are trying to make it look like Windows 7 - there are heaps of Start Menu apps out there - not seen a free one yet so get your wallet out if you insist on having one. If you have a touchscreen monitor, a touchscreen laptop or a tablet that supports Windows 8 then you are in for a real treat as thats where most of you know Windows 8 really comes in to it's element. But it's so much more than that and does work well on non-touchscreen desktops and laptops too, you just have to learn something new.FazzaGBRRant is useless 8 is pointless for people that do know how to use computers. Bc is limited things are apps now taking away the full customization and/or desktop experience, which 8 barely if at all has. You have a bunch of limitation bottlenecks as well. It is casual version of all windows it's not that it's different it's the same thing with less.
Win 8 has to be the worst PC OS to date.. What was that MS? You gave us the start menu for all these years, then take it away making it longer and harder to navigate to where we want to go.. oh there is a start bar you say? Great.. oh.. I have to pay extra for it? I now have to pay for media player and other features that were included in all previous OS? No thanks.. worst idea ever. I'll never get Win 8. They are just milking money out of people for basic navigational features.Rattlesnake_8They made windows 8 cheaper by taking out most uncommon features so that they don't have to pay licensing fees for them.
Sure it has a desktop...it's just hidden behind the stupid metro interface. Hit the little window key and poof...there's the desktop. What it's missing is the start button, and I have no idea why. It's a really stupid re-design if you ask me. While it's probably a better design for the short attention span iPhone users. For people like me who like to get into the heart of the OS it sucks.
Using Windows 8 with a mouse and keyboard sucks. You're not going to enjoy it unless you have a touchscreen.

Well if people don't buy it, then they will hopefully learn from their mistake and make Windows 9 more like Windows 7. I've learned to take the every other OS approach with MS. One OS is great...the next one sucks..It's been this way since Windows 98SE.
