Not one bit, we supported him more than he supported my family of 9. That's one reason why my parents are divorced now. :P

Yeah. Probably a little too hard. His job is always making him stay late to work on stuff.

Yes, very. He's never ever gotten a bad performance review. Not even a mediocre one. They have all been nothing but praise. I amire his work ethic because I'm somewhat of a procrastinator... so when I need to get something done, I think about how responsible he is and I just do it.

Heck yeah, my Dad is the hardest worker I know. He's a sheet metal worker, where he is constantly lifting all day. His body is battered up (back, knees, basically everything) from doing it for over 35 years, yet 5-6 times a week (sometimes 7 times) he'll wake up at 4 and get home after 4. I look up to him for his tough as nails work ethic and perseverance, but I'll never be half the man he is.

Definetly, I've known the man for 20 years and I've never heard him say...."*yawn* Boring!" The guy works everyday of his life, a true hardworker, makes me proud. And makes me wonder if I'm his son since I'm kinda lazy sometimesDarthkaiser

Too bad my dad is a douche who abandoned me 4 or 5 years ago.

well, he was. Worked his ass off for 40+ years

he is retired now and, tbh, kind of lazy but you know what? I think he has earned it. Provided he keeps playing golf 2-3 times a weekI won't worry about him too much

I used to think so up until I worked for him for a few years and found out how little he actually did. But him exaggerating or downright lying about stuff has become no surprise.

He doesn't help much with chores and such, but he is a great, hardworking provider. He pretty much puts his family before everything else, and I truly appreciate him for that. He's a man I'm definitely aiming to be like in that aspect. One of the few great role models in my life.

He is. 'If you do things, do it right', was always his mantra, and it holds up, for everything he does.

It's also kinda cool that he was a great student back in his day; he studied philosophy, so on top of being a great worker, he's a great person to talk to about that type of topic.

Nope, he's retired at 47 and spends most of his time round Europe on his motorbike. He used to work hard in the army though.

My dad is an incredibly hard worker. He used to work 70 hour weeks for the local council's scientific services but he retired in 2005 to recover from lung cancer. However though he doesn't work now he is my mum's official carer and works incredibly hard taking care of her 24/7, while doing most of the household chores and things as well, when I am not around.

He still makes me laugh every single day. He's amazing and I love him more than I could ever say.

well It's tough to say, he is a vice dean at a university so he is definitely successful and he definitely earned it by teaching for 20+ years at the university, but he doesn't put in crazy amounts of hours or anything, typical 7-5 job and maybe a late meeting or dinner once or twice a week.

how did he afford to retire at 47? Good pension from military service?

7-5 is a 10 hour day, thats 50 hours a week plus all the extra stuff I am sure he is asked to do but doesnt really want to do. Thats a lot of hours imo.

As a couple users have already said, my Dad's mantra is if you're going to do something, do it right. A lot of young people don't understand that.

I do think some of that wisdom comes with age, because as I get older I see the merit in such an attitude, and it helped me a lot while I was in the military.
