It seems more and more common. I remember visiting the High School which I still go to, about 7 years ago and I don't remember much of a gang inspired school at all. But now it seems like it grows each year. More and more people sag their pants, think being intelligent in stupid, and constantly getting stared at wherever you walk. It's really ridiculous and I can't imagine a school ten years from now. This is coming from California so it might just be a regional thing, or not. Anyone else's school plagued with gang culture?
Mine is too. And I'm in middle school it's mostly just mexicans and most of them failed so I'm rid of them, but it seems like it's in all schools.zman32
Yeah it does seem to be the Mexicans. They tend to be pretty short so it's kind of funny when I'm waiting at the cross walking and a group of them are all looking tough near me then I just glance at them like they're idiots, always works. Not all but most Mexicans there. I literally don't know of one Mexican who got straight A's.
i also go to school in cali and gangs are at my school. they dont scare me though. i got in a fight with some guy in a gang. there is a reason they are in gangs. they cant protect themselves. cuz i beat the hell out of him and his little friends apparently tried to help him but my friends are all pretty big and they didn't want to get invovled unless it was gonna be 4 v 1. never for even odds.
well i go to a privite school in ohio and i dont have any gang culture in my skool(which is expected for privite skool) but our skool is like the worest area of town so every day after skool when i go to my moms car there will allways b blacks and mexicans walking past just being loud and cursing and it gets really annoying. And maybe once or twice in the year you might b able to look out the window and watch a crime b commited if ur lucky enough to c it.

Well I'm not mexican, but I am latino, and I've noticed what youre talking about within my race. My people being sucked into a downward spiral, seeing every latino around them doing the same thing, and following in their footsteps. I almost ended up in the downward spiral, but I didn't let myself be like the rest. Apparently other latinos call it "being white" just because I have decent grades and I actually want to do something with my life. And for the record, my girlfriend is Mexican, and she had a 3.8 GPA this past semester.

I'm not sure since I'm just starting there(Going into grade 11). The school has a lot of new rules so there will be less of it but probably still a little bit.
well, at my school my grade seems to be relatively clear of the gang crap (Im going into grade 12), but the now grade 11s seem to be ful of it, but then the now grade 10s seem relatively clear of it. Im interested to see how the crop of grade 9s turns out. But its true, the youth even here in Canada seem to be getting stupider.
No, the people who think that they are all "gangsta" are usually shunned. Plus, theres about 3 people who think they are all "gangsta" but they're ok guys
I live in california too, people at my school aren't gangster at all. There are maybe 20 out of 2000 people who honestly believe they're gangster. And if anything, the whole dress code has gotten better since I've entered high school since my HS is so cold, none of the girls are willing to wear 2 inch skirts (I used to go to a school with regular 95 degreee weather)

Yes, exactly. It seems like people are finding it weird NOT to listen to gangster rap, wear a white shirt going down to their knees, and doing all those stupid gangster things. It truly plagued my school, and I don't see why they can't sticken the dress code they they have on obligation to dress right....If they can do the least....But oh no, freedom of expression jumps in and we can't reform the dress code...:roll:
At my school there are a whole lot of wannabe gangsters and in the winter I can't wear gloves to school because it shows "gang affiliation". I hate that place.

At my school EVERYONE is gangster. Only the people who get 3.5 or better isn't. ONe of my teachers left the school because of that. I swear 80% of the kids at my school at least try to be gangster.

Its the same way in my school, hardly any metalheads at all, there are some small groups but most of them are idiots and I stay away from them.
My highschool didn't have "gangs" but it was the worst clic school i think there could possibly be. Ever. Literally everyone was in very tight-knit groups of friends of about four or five max. I used to feel so sorry for any new kids because it was just impossible to make friends.
