Well, at this rate, they'll soon eliminate all contact between sexes. Which means the extremists will end up becoming extinct, which is nice for the rest of us.XilePrincessI can actually imagine them taking it that far -_-
[QUOTE="BBC"]Men and women have been banned from shaking hands in a district of Somalia controlled by the Islamist group al-Shabab.
Under the ban imposed in the southern town of Jowhar, men and women who are not related are also barred from walking together or chatting in public.
It is the first time such social restrictions have been introduced.
The al-Shabab administration said those who disobeyed the new rules would be punished according to Sharia law.
The BBC's Mohamed Moalimuu in Mogadishu says the penalty would probably be a public flogging.
The militant group has already banned music in areas that it controls, which include most of central and southern Somalia.
Somalia has not had a stable government since 1991.
The UN-backed government only controls parts of Mogadishu and a few other areas.chandu83
I wonder why these groups won't make any such bold statements about ending poverty and hunger instead they care about such silly things.
Let me tell you that all this stuff is bollocks,i have lived in an area thats highly populated with muslims. What i can tell you is that this hypocrites are the same ones who would visit whores while no one is watching and pregnate 15yr old girls n all that.

And yet I hear almost every day people here complain how their "rights" are being taken away while in the US and how miserable it is here. Maybe they should spend a few days there and see how some third world countries treat their people.
DIdn't you get the memo? It is un-Islamic to listen to music! /sarcasm.I'm even more confused about the banning of music. Wat?

That doesn't change the fact that people have their rights taken away while in the US. Who cares if it's as bad as in another country - it's irrelevant.

If I remember accurately, some Islamic scholars forbid all music except for percussion and lyrics which don't promote anything unethical or against Islam. Others take a more progressive approach to it, however. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
That won't bring the tourists in...LJS9502_basicLike anyone would even want to visit Somalia.

That was more towards the kids under 17 who are complaining that they can't buy an M-rated game without their parents. The other "rights" are pretty much debatable depending on what you're talking about. Not trying to derail the thread too much, though.
[QUOTE="hippiesanta"]But after all these argue in OT, yet many whites convert to islamPffrbt
That didn't even make sense.
have you not see, many whites convert to islam through marriage. Whites are easily give up their religion or their believe. also example, many whites leave their religion to athiesm, islam and buddism and proud of it......... look at richard gear.... he thinks buddism is a trend at his time. look at ellen burstyn from exorcist movie... she convert to islam need to say more?have you not see, many whites convert to islam through marriage. The hell does this have to do with anything?
According to most Islamic scholars, music is banned because it corrupts people's hearts; people become inclined to sin. The only things they consider permissible are the moderate use of an Arabic drum known as a "daff" and purely religious lyrics. Instruments like guitars and flutes are regarded as the handiwork of Satan. \I'm even more confused about the banning of music. Wat?

Even though I'm a Muslim, however, I find the ruling absurd. >_>

You're wrong; that famous white people convert to Islam does not necessarily imply that Islam is the true religion.I remembered when a bunch of radical Muslims were trying to persuade me that Somalia is better than the West.

Interesting.
They should get together with my fundamentalist Christian grandfather, who believed that everything with any kind of percussion whatsoever is "African junk music" and is a corruptor of souls.
Public flogging? Public decapitation, more like. After being stoned half to death and waterboarded. All of which will end up on Youtube for good measure.
But, whatever. Eventually all their women will just come to the US. More for me. If I ever went outside.
