Eh, it's not nearly as bad as it sounds. Kind of like having to get car insurance, it sort of sucks balls but not so bad as to destroy your life.

Many states already have that law. I know for a fact in the states of Wisconsin and Colorado you are required to have Automobile insurance. Not a big deal, especially in conjunction with Obama's lowering of overall healthcare costs. Really. Not a big deal.

The whole point of the healthcare reform is to make healthcare affordable. This article isn't providing all the facts. You only need to get healthcare if you can actually afford it and not specifically the government care. You can stick with your private insurance.

TC, you are stupid. The plan states anybody who can afford it must buy it, because if you are not insured, you know who ends up paying to fix your stupid ass head after you get hurt? Everybody else and their tax money. Therefore, get out of my castle.

I don't think it works like that. I thought the new health care plan just makes sure everyone gets free healthcare, and not signing up for it intially, well a lot of protesters might want to do that and so if they find themselves in need of care they can't be helped.

Don't think of it as being forced, and even so, what's so flipping wrong with being forced to get something you need in order for the system to work? Oh no, communism, it's taking over!!!!!

Why must you insult him? I agree with him. Sorry my opinion. I'm not going to go over everything that is wrong with this because yu will all just crucify those who don't agree. It's flamebait just to disagree with Obama today. Lol he isn't the blind one, you people are.

Red, yellow, black, and white, they are equal in his site, Mmm, mmm, mm! Barrack Hussein Obama

Sounds good to me. We already have that law for auto insurance; why not for healthcare, especially since healthcare is significantly better than car insurance?

Are you currently uninsured? I'm assuming not. If you have your own health insurance, you can keep it. He isn't forcing you to pay anything.

hahaha, you're quoting Newsbusters. You might as well get your political news from the National Enquirer.

Look, Obama has said multiple times that this is a Public OPTION. All he and a few senators are pushing for is a government run insurance company that will compete with private insurance companies. The whole reason its called a public OPTION is because it gives people the OPTION of using it, instead of a private insurer.

So what happens when you actually do need the help? You'll expect to be able to be treated at a hospital right? Yes, but there is no way you can afford that out of pocket. It's only stupid until you actually need it my friend.

I think the real outrage should be directed at the idea of having to buy insurance without there being very strict regulations on the insurance companies or a public option. Without either of those, the government is just gift-wrapping taxpayer money and handing it over to the insurance companies, while hardly getting anything in return.

IMO it is.. going to jail for not paying for something that you might not be able to afford?

Which is why it should be made affordable. My problem is not the fines, my problem is the idiot senators who want to keep the fines but don't want to take steps to lower costs. Max Baucus' new plan, supported by some Republicans, includes the mandate, the fine, and presumably the jail time for not paying the fine, yet at the same time it puts insurance industry insiders in charge of regulating the market. That's ridiculous. This is why we need a public option. It should be mandatory for people to have health insurance because it helps control costs the same way it does with car insurance and because people who don't have insurance end up going to the emergency room and costing taxpayers way more money with expensive visits. At the same time, though, we need to make it affordable and I can think of no better way to do that than to offer an alternative to the insurance industry itself.

By the way, Obama has had next to nothing to do with drafting the legislation that's out there right now, if you want to be pissed off at someone you should be pointing the finger at Congress, not the President.

It's not free money, it goes back to the people to help those who need care.

there is no healthcare plan and it will be a while until we have one so, as a matter of fact it isn't illegal.
